I am really glad you guys are loving this DIY. When I did my led side markers I couldn't believe how good they looked. I knew I had to share it with my fellow members. We accomplished something that looks better then some vendors for cheaper. A win/win.
They take a 194 bulb stock right?

I ordered some empty 194 bases to solder the LED wire to, then plug that into the factory light socket. Hopefuly it will work and stay sealed at the same time.

EDIT: Here's what I ordered. I got 6 of them in case I screw up a few.

I recommend everyone to do this. It is more secure. No risk of wires shorting and a better connection.

go here.... http://autolumination.com/connectors.htm

this is what you want.. Standard bulb bases with a plug-in 2-wire pigtail 12"- 18 gauge wires

order 4 194's

Yep, that's what I got, except I ordered 6 because I get impatient sometimes.

Good Work!! It's really hard to capture how bright they are and how good they look with a camera.

That looks like another one on my long long list of To-do's....
That wouldn't violate any auto-lighting laws ya think?

it wouldnt break any laws, you arent covering up the light, and actually making it brighter and more noticeable, mercedes, porsches, etc already have the same led markers

I don't think anyone has even gotten pulled over for LED sidemarkers. Ours retain the reflector so its legal. AAC on the other hand I am not sure because the reflector part of the lens goes away.

just crunched the numbers; i assumed it would be much cheaper than the plug and play versions available, but not really.

142.58 shipped for the leds
15.96 shipped for the 194 sockets
60.00 shipped for used sidemarkers (want to be able to return to factory, would be able to do that if i bought plug and play ones as well.)
plus paint and primer. have to assume 25.00???

so 243.54 total plus the satisfaction of doing it myself versus 280.00 shipped for a vendors product. so, all in all not saving anything really. but you may see benefits to this DIY as mentioned earlier; the thinner slit, retaining reflector, personal satisfaction, etc.

hmmmmm, not sure where i stand on this, leaning toward DIY, since i do enjoy working on my own car as much as possible.
