Thumbs up Wow.

So, a friend of mine got a 2008 Corvette with the LS3 and he let me drive it around just now. I barely even tapped into the power, and all I can say is wow. What sucks is I have a V6 Camaro on order and don't know if I can really afford the extra $7,000 to upgrade to the 2SS.

one thing to think about is how much heavier the camaro is compared to the corvette so there is going to be a marked difference in the experience

also i can definately say i feel ya on the WOW. hitting 100mph on a test drive in a 2008 corvette was amazing....

You know what? I just remember I test drove a 2006 or 2007 Cadillac CTS-V a couple years ago and I remember the experience very well. It was fast and fun, but much slower feeling than the Vette. It didn't have that OMG feeling to it.

And I just looked up the specs of that car. Curb weight: 3850 lbs. HP: 400. TQ: 395.

0-60: 5.1

That's from Edmunds and if that is true then I don't see how the Camaro is going to really improve upon that. It's a little frustrating to know the curb weight of our SS is slightly more than a Cadillac CTS-V.

I guarantee that no dealer will let me test drive one since I'm under 25. :( I might be able to check out a G8, though.

Well if it makes any difference, the 0-60 on the SS is 4.6. Thats fairly significant. It can take that foot to the floor stomp from "ehh, thats pretty good" to "damn!" And this SS is designed to give a little Awe factor to the engine. From a little engine noise and exhaust growl accompanying you in the driver seat to the feel of the car as you drive. Im not totally sure you can get an idea from the CTS-V.

You need to move out where you can get on some open roads. Some more freedom for your foot. Its nice when 100 can become common place.

Are there any cars that would be a comparable test drive for the V6?

True. But the engine could easily seem more tame in this application. If I were you, just go read the articles that automibile and motor trend wrote about the V6 and be satisfied until you can get behind the wheel of one.

If you know anything about Motor Trend, you know it is exceedingly uncommon to see them just gush over a car like they do over the Camaro V6. You can be genuinely excited with them.

Depending on the laws of your state they may have to. I know in NC a dealer HAS to let you test drive a car as long as you have your license and there is no mechanical problems preventing the car from being driven.

Whaat? Im pretty sure as a business, they have the right to keep anyone from driving anything. It is the dealer's property.

Thanks, those articles really help me justify saving my $7000 and sticking with the V6. Hell, the car I drive right now only has 195hp or so and it doesn't bother me.
