some peeples dont know nuthin' 'bout 'nuthin' no-how.
The anticipation is killing me...
I have my VIN, and called up GM. They confirm that the car is BUILT and passed INSPECTION and should be in my little mits soon. How soon? "I dunno". When will it be shipped? "I dunno". How long does shipping take once it is shipped? "I dunno". How long is prep time at the dealer? "I dunno". Will it be 4 weeks? 8 weeks? "I dunno". fudge. |

I think they were waiting for inspections to be complete on the first several[hundreds?] cars before shipping begins. Should be done within days.

I found out during a tour of the Corvette plant in Bowling Green as well as on Corvette forums while viewing threads where people were awaiting their order, that after every car is built, it gets parked for a period of time, at least a week, to allow for potential supplier recalls to be noticed and rectified.
In other words, lets say your car is built this week, and next week the supplier identifies a problem with a batch of parts. Since the car is still at the factory it is easier to fix the problem instead of attempting to take care of it at the dealer. I don't know what the length of hold time is for the Camaro and I don't think I have heard anyone mention it. For anyone that gets the chance to tour an assembly line, I highly recommend it. The logistics involved in delivering all the parts in sequence for your car is incredible when you think about it. So when the truck backs up to the plant with a load of motors, those crates have been loaded in the truck in a specific sequence so they can be unloaded in a specific sequence to meet specific cars as they come down the line. This occurs for every component. Those special order wheels you optioned out...again are being placed on a truck in a certain order so they can be retrieved from the truck in the exact order required to meet your car on the assembly line as it arrives.
