Better Handling
Okay so i own a 1LT camaro and i just want better handling, im not really caring about lowering or anything like that. Ive looked over much of the PFADT parts and accessories. I saw and hear alot about the adjustable coilovers, but i really dont wanna spend the 2,000. What parts can i install to really see a difference besides the coilovers? thanks alot

The Pfadt spring and sway bar package are an excellent starting point. It is probably our most popular package.

there are a serious amount of options for you. Your definition of what you want is a little vague. Can you define your goals, and maybe a parts budget

Peddewrs or Pfadt are both good stuff. Swaybars and some better springs/coilovers will give big improvements over the stock as for handling.

The OE shocks are valved pretty well for OE ride height. If you are not planning to lower it your best solution is a set of adjustable sway bars. Our bars are hollow just like the factory front bar yet we increased rates up to 300% depending on which setting you use. Sway bars make a very noticeable difference that can be felt immediately after installation. We currently have a 15% off sale going through the weekend if you use code TG2010 during your checkout. For more information and images go HERE.
Something you may want to consider that makes a noticeable improvement and should be mandatory on these cars is cradle bushings. The OE bushings allow way too much movement in the rear cradle which contributes to wheel hop and creates inconsistent handling abilities. We make two variations, inserts and full bushings. The inserts are a more economical solution than the full bushings and can be installed much easier, yet provide the same benefits up to certain horsepower levels. The inserts are also on the Thanksgiving sale this weekend. For more info and pricing on our cradle bushings, go HERE. Last edited by BMR guy; 12-01-2010 at 04:26 PM. |

Swaybars would be a great addition. Our bars feature billet and stamped ends that are welded on and not coined, which prevents unnecessary stress. High quality Energy suspension urethane bushings and brackets are included as well.

Rough ride and great handling in a Camaro do NOT belong in the same sentence. The architecture of the ZETA II Camaro allows for race car handling with a great quality of ride. Where you want to start is with the foundational bushes on your Camaro. Sub-frame and radius bush inserts. These allow you to keep the OE bushes and fill the voids with Pedders street friendly urethane.
EVERYONE has video to show you a stable sub-frame. You don't need braces or solid mounts for street use. Inserts or bushes will do the job and NOT CHANGE the ride quality or stress your sub-frame. As for bars and other upgrades, start with THE BOOK on 5th Gen Suspension. It will take you through the complete story of ZETA going back years to the Commodore in Australia. Last but not least, you should know that Pedders has documented the performance of our ZETA and ZETA II range for years. We were the fastest 5th Gen at the Optima Challenge, we ran faster lap times than any of the Pro Touring Cars at Gingerman and are FASTER than a CTS-V race car. Everybody talks about performance, but Pedders documents it in video and with the press. Anyone that wants to prove their product is better than Pedders can go to Spring Mountain and run faster than 1.50.2 or Gingerman and best a 1.33.6. On the drag strip you can see what Lingenfelter has done with Pedders Supercar Coilovers. Lingenfelter removed brand-x and gained 3/10s in the sixty foot breaking into the 8s. Sorry to drone on, but I am passionate about this. I love the 5th Gen Camaro and think the Chevrolet engineers did a brilliant job with it. What we do is what they can't do because they are restricted by target price points and bean counters. We like to think Pedders bits are exactly what they would use if they had the budget. In fact, GM did use Pedders on their Indy and NASCAR Pacecars. They also used Pedders on Jay Leno's Camaro. Check under the hood of a GM owned Camaro and you will probably find Pedders on it. The most important thing I can tell you about GM and Pedders is that all the cars I just mentioned were not only on Pedders, but GM bought and paid for the Pedders bits. Maybe that is why Pedders parts are available through your Chevrolet Dealer and GMPP? Tell us how you drive and we will help you do what you want with only the parts you need. |

Thank you for considering our products. If Chase hasn't already informed you, you do not need to start with coilovers. Coilovers are a fantastic addition indeed, but you can accomplish what you want with smaller, less expensive upgrades. You will be surprised at what the Camaro Stage 2 Performance package will do for your car. This simple package has proven to be unbeatable time and time again on the auto-x course, all while not sacrificing any loss of ride quality! Please shoot me a PM if you have any more questions about this or our entire line up of GMPP Certified suspension products. |
