Check your On Star status. They email a regualr scheduled 'snap shot' of the car's status and any issues are flagged by the central warning system. I imagine they'd send you one on request if you wanted it out of the normal schedule too.
If it's an issue to be concerned about, it should be identified there.

Each time I start the car in the morning, it seems to to take 20 - 30 seconds to "settle down".

This goes on until the engine idles down a bit.

Mine does it too, I have a 1LT Auto.
My other Camaro, a 1998 SS, makes the exact same high pitched whistling noise every time (hot or cold) for 20 - 25 seconds; I always thought it was something charging up such as the A/C, a capacitor for the air bags, ABS ???????

Anyone find a definite answer on this yet? I know its not a huge issue or anything, I'm just curious as to what it actually is.

I have whistle and believe it to be normal. On aircraft fuel boost pumps you hear the same thing at times. I believe this is an electric fuel pump building pressure and once the pressure is maintained, the pump goes back to standby mode. Usually an engine will draw fuel pressure after it gets running a bit, so the pump is likley building the precharge and then shutting down or going to a lesser mode of operation. I'd bet the injector system demand is the reason for this.

On start, at least residual fuel pressure (usually after the car has sat a bit and bled off pressure) fuel pressure needs to be built up fast, thus the highest load on teh pump. I don't see this as a problem at all and believe it to be normal. I'd bet it's just that some pumps are quieter than others, but I'd also bet when you don't hear that (if you do now) you'll likley have a problem - like failed pump.

There are several here with same issue and my car has yet to burp at all, runs like a dream. I LOVE IT !!!!

1250 miles and I've yet to get on it yet. Waiting till after oil change at 1500. Going Mobil 1. Enjoy these beauties all !
