It has nothing to do with need but it sure is fun. I'm not sure why you would have to answer questions about something that makes you happy. When your wife asks if you really need a 600 hp car, ask her how she would feel if you asked her if she really needs a husband.

forget the LS3 conversion...stick with a VVT cam.
over 600whp is fun for sure. It gets a bit different in the rain or loose stuff on road surface...you just have to respect the pedal. I would say it is no where near the limits of a street car. Maybe 700 like ADM has said...its all in power-weight ratio. You put a 600+whp LS motor in a vette you are on the cusp of rediculous...but in madness is excitement!

The best way I've heard it said is, "supercharging makes the car the way it should have been from the factory".

Definitely

Just doing a gear swap makes a nice difference, too.

Yes drag radials, but drag radials these days last awhile and hook pretty good.

When I bought the car, I knew it would get a bunch of my go fast work on it.
Been saving, and planning, and being a good boy. Work on cars all the time, so I know the value of doing it right.
The turbos and stuff have been in the shop for almost a year. I'm shooting for 600whp on my buddy's dyno, so double current power basically.
It's time. The car doesn't give me much of a rush at any speed anymore.
I still love it, but I need the rush. It's a heavy car. I think they are fun around 450whp(driven 2 at that power) and I'm hoping 600whp will be a little bonkers.
I'm assuming with my boost controller I can turn it as low as 475who or so on the springs. Only drive the car about 5 months a year, 3 months of which almost daily.
Glad you pulled the trigger. Have fun. Hopefully you don't get jaded as fast as most...

I'm at 570/520 at 9.6lbs and they guys at work ask me what its like to drive it and I tell them its simple:
You know when your driving around a near stock v8 car right after it rains and you can break the tires loose at will and think how cool it would be if you could do it when its dry out? There you go......
I will say that it doesn't do so hot with the gas needle though lol.
I will be doing a cam swap and ported heads this winter to help me reach 650.

To be honest, even when it was stock, it really couldn't be driven to it's full potential on the streets. It was adequate then. It's more than adequate now, and the only time I can really get on it is freeway on-ramps and long stretches of road when no one is around. At this point, even with new, fatter tires, the car is still traction limited. There's really no point in more power that I can't put to the ground without more upgrades.

I'm sure 700 or 800 HP would be fun, but that's just absolutely ridiculous for the streets. I think it's more about bragging rights than anything else.
Totally agree. My good friends 2012 stock Turbo S Porsche crushes 800rwhp Camaro's, factory ZR1 Corvettes, etc. with a little 3.8L 530hp 516tq AWD car with a lighting fast PDK trans on factory street tires. There is no substitute for weight and an AWD system with a great trans. Around here there are so many Turbo S's, GTR's, Aventadors, Superleggeras, etc. and there is no chance for overweight, high horsepower Camaro's compared to these cars. Beating a Mustang or Challenger is nothing to get excited about compared to the killer machines that run the streets around here with street tires and can drive safely anywhere. If the power can't get to the ground it is worthless. I am not going to drive around with drag radials/slicks when we have some of the best canyon and ocean drives around.
