Pro Charger or TVS 2300 Maggie!

Hi Everyone,
i finally have the funds to install a SC and contacted a local performance shop to have a TVS2300 SC installed in my L99 SS Camaro. After discussing different headers and exhaust that I wanted him to install (Kooks headers, Corsa catback exhaust), he highly recommended that I have the Pro Charger installed instead fo the TVS2300. His reasoning is that a Pro Charge will produce more hp at the same psi as a 2300? Also, he can do any repairs on the Pro Charger locally versus the 2300 which would have to be shipped back to the mainland for repair. Because of the downtime required for any future repairs on the 2300, I am swaying to the Pro Charger. Seems like most posts are on the 2300 which is why I was going that way since it seemed reliable and didnt read any negative comments concerning that type of SC.

My question, what do you think of the Pro Charger? Should I stick with my initial thoughts and go with the 2300? or go ahead and have him install the Pro Charger? Are they basically the same?

Living on an island restricts availability on the number of performance shops. This is the only one i found that does SC installs locally.

Thanks!

I have thousands of miles on two Magnuson blowers. No problems yet. I haven't heard of a broken Magnuson blower either.

If you have 10 psi available, the maggie will give it to you under 3000 rpm and maintain it to redline. Other blower will eventually get to 10 psi. Why wait when you can have big boost just over idle? For a street blower, it's nuts to go with a system that makes you wait for rpm to see boost.

This ought to be fun

It's really up to what you want. The TVS is a nice blower and so is the Procharger. The trend on this board is TVS but you'll see the other blowers start to mix in within time.

We've been building Vette's for a long time. For blowers the centrifical like Procharger is alot more used than a Magnacharger.

Never heard of a maggie breaking either. Go with what you feel is best. Maggie will give you more power low and that nice supercharger whine, procharger will probably give you more top end power and whatever sound it is they make hahaha.

You've waited this long. Why don't you wait another month to see what Whipple and KB have to offer. Two other great PD S/C!

Throw Edelbrock in there too. Problem is......no telling when any of them will actually bring a product to market. Procharger and Maggie are there now. Props to them. I wouldn't wait on promises. Likely, they won't be better than what's available now anyway. Either blower is capable of making way more power than anyone can harness on the street. The Maggie will make it at part throttle in an rpm band that's very usable on the street.

Thanks guys!
Great input. I wasnt aware that the Maggie had power at the lower rpm range vs Pro Charger.

They do alot of forced induction for corvettes and camaros on island as well as anything else for a performance car. I think they are comfortable installing Pro Chargers and getting the most out of them compared to the Magnacharger.

The camaro is my hobby fun car and looking more for low end torque vs top speed since we dont "officially" have a track until end of 2010. I just love the torque from 0-60 mph!

Thanks!

go with the maggie, I had a procharger on my '04 GTO and it was great at the track. On the street it wasn't all that good but at the track Going maggie on my Camaro for better throttle reponse on the street.

just my .02

by the way I had 13lbs of boost with a lot of stuff done and made 581rwhp

That's really not fair. The dyno shows big power in an rpm range where someone actually drives. Shhhhh. That ain't right......
