I would have to agree with you IF you are GM and all you want to do is sell cars without regard to what you said, showed, or indicated would be offered when deposits were placed.
The people who feel strongly about this simply want GM to keep its commitment to do what it said - and offer the specified content on the car. If not then those who have money on pre orders need to have communication so decisions can be made. GM can end this right now by informing stakeholders of the status of the car. GM is not giving me a loaded 2SS I am paying for it. Many here act like GM is doing us a favor by building the car. IMO....That kind of thinking will be bad for GM. |

i believe that when the point of no return comes, they will tell us one way or the other. with 8 weeks left til production, they've still got time to keep working on it & who knows, maybe they'll get it fixed in time & let us know. if it's still a work-in-progress and there's no way to have it installed in the first runs, i'd imagine they'll let us know that too so the ones who have to have it can delay their orders & still get the car they want

Look I understand that GM's original intent was to have ABL in the car at SORP. And if they can't, I'm sure there will be adequate compensation.
I'm also understanding of those that will cancel or delay an order if ABL is not available. But, I think we are loosing sight of the fact that this is a new car from the ground up. Save the Engines and tranny's this car is completely new. And ABL is exclusive to the Camaro. The intent is that we'd get it first. I don't see ABL as a deal breaker, and I don't think it's worth delaying the car and postponing income that GM desperately needs. Also, lets not forget that we've had more information made available to us sooner than any other car in GM's history. With that comes a bit of a trade off in that what we hear early on may not come to pass as complications arise. So, I'm asking that we keep some realistic perspective and expectations. For those that don't like the way GM is handling it, I say you've done a good job and making your position known. Lets see what GM does and go from there. If you feel the best way to make your voice heard is to cancel your order then so be it. At this point, all I ask is that we avoid beating the dead horse...

I can understand what alot are saying, and trust me I've had the same feelings as you when I orderd my 35th SS. The price was not correct, turned out to be more than advertised. Long and short GM made it right for the people that had signed contracts.
With the understanding that I have now of the auto business, maybe more than most. I know some of what is going into the development of a car or truck and the set backs that occur. This could have passed a million times in testing and failed once. GM will not let any part fail. I have every faith that GM will make this right. I hope that all this is just a precaution and ABL will be on the cars that get it. If it's not on the car than I would think GM would make it up to us. Lets just wait until we hear from someone that really knows. We all know what assuming means. If you don't ask someone thats in the armed forces........ |

and I, too, know alot about how things are done in the development of a car... being a mechanical engineer probably helps that... and I'm praying that something is done if the ABL isn't on the car... and I pray that something is said before this gets out to other sites and spreads like wildfire across the internet.

This thread is getting close to closure....
Consider this the last warning. Don't let it get personal...

Well I wouldn't cancel my order, that's for sure. If the ABL simply got delayed, then I would delay my order till the ABL became available.
On the other hand, if this is indeed a brand new technology that GM just can't seem to get right at all, I don't see them cancelling the ABL altogether, only simply using existing technology that is already in existing GM vehicles. My 2 cents... |
