Tune Explanation?
Hey guys, this is going to seem like a dumb question, but what exactly are you guys tuning in your SS's when you're having them tuned? I know AFM is being turned off and the something about the torq limiter?(might be wrong here lol). I have Roto Fab and Corsa on mine and have been thinking about getting it tuned to actually take on the effects from the bolt ons. If I take it to Livernois (Metro-Detroit) which I probably will sometime in the next year, do they have a standard tune? Im kind of in the dark to the whole tuning experience so any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on the setup and what each car is going to require.
Take for example a cold air induction car you may just change fueling through the MAF, slight change in timing, and removal of AFM/Torque management. With the automatic cars there is a lot that can be done to the shift settings as well. Header and cam cars are going to require a bit more work to idle settings, air flow, idle air, throttle follower.... This would be a very long post if one were to go into what was done on each car. Most shops are going to have some sort of 'base' calibration that they have done as a starting point and then tweak each car from there. When starting from a brand new car that hasn't been done before you just work off of the GM cal and go from there. |

On mine we turned off AFM/DOD, turned off the torque management, set the AFR and turned off the CEL for having no rear O2 sensors since I have long tube headers.

My car L99 just had a tune a few weeks ago. I have headers, CAI and ported TB. The best part of the tune was the transmission tune. It shifts quicker and I really like it.
I had a mail order tune from Patrick G. A great tuner for our cars. Bill
