I'm looking for the same info too. All I've heard so far is that Airaid is producing them for GM

Thanks guys, the Airaid unit looks pretty good. I can't afford to jeopardize my warrenty and want to stay with GM parts and accessories.

Anything to help. I wouldn't be surprised if it looked exactly the same except chromed and with the GMPP logo on.

I inquired about this item with my dealer's parts dept.. I was told it is not a CAI as such, it is very similar to the stock unit except that it looks fancier, is stainless steel and uses a K&N filter similar in demensions to the stock unit. They did not have one in stock for me to look at, figures.

That doesn't sound encouraging.

I was looking at the unit at the Airaid web site and they show +11hp dyno results, which would be great if it is the GMPP unit. I guess time will tell.

I don't know how they could know any of that. That sounds just like the original unit that they discontinued due to poor design. The next unit has not even been made yet and that is why they did not have one to look at.
I'm holding out faith that the GM unit will be nice looking and add a little hp.
I'm in no hurry to buy.

The preliminary GMPP intake air box was more of an appearance item than a performance upgrade. The engineers did a very good job with the stock air box. The GMPP unit was a stock style but the tube was chrome and the air box top was also chrome. It had a high flow air filter and utilized the stock looking lower assembly.

My testing proved minimal gains on the chassis dyno. Given that GMPP is dedicated to performance it appears that it was or would be better to focus thier resources in other areas. I have not heard if they have cancelled the air box or if it will ever be offered.

It was scraped and they went went back to the drawing board. Then I heard that Airaid was making them. It still shows as a future part, unlike the GMPP Hurst short throw shifter. Dealer says they don't know when they will release it.

I fed up from waiting for this GMPP air box and bought a K&N filter to keep the dealer quite.

I guess that whenever GMPP V.S. K&N, K&N = $53 only. So screw GMPP

Jannetty racing showed no difference between stock filter and dropping in a KN filter.
Stock filter flows very well.
