I think most people knew what they were getting into when they bought an auto, and don't care too much about being slower/faster than the manual.
That's the thing though, the auto was advertised to be as fast or faster (0.1 in the 0-60) than the manual. So there shouldn't be any of this "you knew what you were getting into with an auto" stuff. Our cars should be just as good.

I drove my 1SS auto to a car show 90 miles one way. 100 degree temps and thick traffic.
I wondered what it would have been like driving a stick. Constant rowing through the gears. I find the auto fast, responsive, and like the M selection for letting her go.
On the highway I was playing with a Boxster till I got tired and left him. I let him around and he just waved.
Happy with my auto.

I have had my Camaro for 3 weeks and although I have driven the car conservatively the acceleration is there. Just cruising @30mph and pushing the gas pedal a 1/3 more will make the car surge and I still have at least 1/2 of the gas pedal to go before it is floored.
I had a 2007 G35 before this and the Camaro is definately faster. As far as MPG my first tank was almost 19MPG, my 2nd tank was @15MPG but I was driving very aggresively trying to vary the RPM's as much as possible to help break the engine in.

It's really hard to judge the peddle travel to how far the throttle plate is actually open with the newer throttle-by-wire systems. It's all up to however the manufacturer chose to program it.

Everyone go back and read post #28... I'm thrilled with my L99

Sorry I gave this thread a bump... I promise it won't happen again.

15.9 in city and 16.7 on the highway. I have 900 miles on it so far. I believe after the engine breaks in and I start running royal purple in the engine and rear axle those numbers will be a lot better.

Trashy? If my Lexus LS 460 is trashy, then I guess my 05 GTO is a flat out piece of junk (which it is not by the way). The Lexus is also the smoothest riding car I have ever driven and is damn near as quick at the GTO once it is revved up. Road and Track got 0-60 in 5.6 and 14.0/103 in the 1/4 with the 4400 pound barge. Not bad for an average 380 hp 8 speed automatic car.

I also test drove the Lexus IS-F and that will blow my GTO off the road. Reported times on that are 0-60 in 4.2 and 1/4 in 12.6/114.

I'm happy with my L99. It's really quick for a stock showroom vehicle and it's getting 19.1 mpg with 887 miles on it. As far as speed goes, I will climb in my dragster or my S/G Vega if I need to go fast.

Me too I've never seen anyone so defensive about it.

BrianGriffin...I respect your opinion. I don't share it, but I respect it. You don't need to start "wars" all the time.
