I honestly don't know if there is a difference but I do know the connectors are completely different. My old bag has yellow and green connectors and the new one had purple and pink. The connections are physically different as well. The new air bag once I get it will have the correct connections to plug into the new clock spring. Then hopefully the self check passes the light goes out and I'm a Happy Camper

Originally they sent Me the air bag I think for a 2015. At a glance it looked right but it didn't fit.

The 2015 bag should have had a Chevy logo and the new 2016s have a Camaro logo correct?

Have you actually sat in one and got your hands on the wheel? It is thicker but the diameter is smaller and it has a flat bottom which makes make it easier getting in and out of the car and feels more spacious when sitting in the drivers seat. It's one of my favorite things in the updated interior.

Neither did I! They seem so different when hey aren't side by side.

So the corvette wheel should fit the fifth gen if the 6th gen steering wheel fits then?

YES it does work! No programming needed for the heater to work. My only issue which they say was my fault is I got the wrong air bag. The swap for the correct one is on the way so I had an air bag light on. All controls worked including the paddle shifters. The wheel starts heating almost immediately. I took my time and it took less than 2 hours. Probably could have done it a lot quicker.
I did NOT disconnect the battery! I don't believe in that. I just pulled the air bag fuse and waited 10 mins. I used an add a fuse for the heater circuit. All in all it was pretty easy. I did swap the old wheel back on because my wife was complaining about me driving that car with no air bag.
I will post pics and the video as soon as he sends them.

Any questions ask away!
Anything to report now that you've had it on for a few days? Do the FAV tabs work?

He had to swap the old wheel back until he receives the correct airbag.

But I am also curious about the buttons. From pictures, it looks like the 6th gen wheel has more button selections than the 5th gen. I'm wondering is the FAV buttons scroll through the station presets like the 5th gen thumb "wheel" on the right of the steering wheel. If that's the case, there is an up, down, left and right buttons on the 6th gen wheel the 5th gen doesn't have.

Even if they don't correspond to anything on the stock 5th gen radio, I'm sure they could be assigned functions on an aftermarket radio.
