you need to drive it a while for the tune to readjust completely. i would run a tank through it before putting it back on the dyno. at least run 3/4 of the 93 octane tank. it takes time for it to adjust.

Today we tuned Shaun's 2011 Mustang GT. The car was baselined roughly a month ago and made 375 RWHP / 354 RWTQ. We wanted to basline it again since it has more miles noa and to make sure the results were as accurate as possible. So the actual baseline today after 2,000 + miles was 391 RWHP / 385 RWTQ

After tuning, it made 415 RWHP / 399 RWTQ!!!

Interesting enough this was on 87 octane (the 2011 GT) as it literally has 37 miles on the car. We are going to race the gas out of it tonight and re dyno on 93 to see if it picks any horsepower up.

As it sits, the Camaro wins on paper We will run the mustang at the track tonight and see if we can match up the 1/4 mile times against our base 1/4 mile times in out R&D Camaro!

1. using 87 octane and reporting dyno number vs. a LS3 with premium is bad.
2. buying a mustang just for running it on a dyno is a waste of money.
3. buying a mustang, making an invalid test , reporting it, and being a biased shop means you will sell nothing to any mustang gt owner.

al least shops like livernois do their best work for every make and model. unbiased.

If your using the dyno for what it is designed to be used for - tuning and getting an idea of what modifications will add - then it is important to dyno in the same gear, but it is not necessary to dyno in the 1:1 gear. Certainly that is the most accepted (and what I would prefer too), but 4th will work just fine, so long as ALL comparisons are done in the same gear.

on all the cars i personally know, it takes a time for the tune to settle. i dont care if the coyote makes less power than a LS3. it should. its not like the pcm 'defaults' to 93 octane.

I wouldn't advise doing it in "R" though.

The rear end shot picture says it all. Even the Mustang engineers admit the rear end of a Mustang is something that was a bad idea. The rear of the Mustang was 1 of the main reasons why I chose my Camaro over the new Mustang. The rear of that car is fugly IMO. I like Mustangs almost as much as I like Camaros but I think they really messed up on that one.

I have found that what fixes the Mustang rear is adding the filler between the tail lights and the optional pedestal spoiler. Changes the entire look.

I said "No, it's not a chip. It's an entirely new engine that ford has been working on for a while. In fact, it's the return of the 5.0 after all these years! I'd think that should be big news to Ford!" He basically said he hadn't heard of that, only that they would be getting a HP bump in the next model year and assumed they would "chip it". Even that made me chuckle, because they haven't had to solder a new ECU chip into a car in quite a while either. So then he said "Well if you buy this 2010 today and it's still under warranty, come back when the new ones are out and we'll swap out that engine for you!" LOL I should have got that in writing from him!

This was a young guy, I'm guessing 21 or 22. He was NOT well versed on cars. I won't even go into all the things he claimed about the Camaro because it's so laughable that some people would think I'm making it up
I dont know which is scarier, the bs coming from his mouth to try and sell the car or if he was that much of an idiot and what he was saying he actually believed.
