Royal purple vs mobile 1 extended performance?
Is royal really worth the extra penny?
If so, is there any way to get it cheaper then what im seeing at pepboys? $9.99 a quart |

If I was spending that much money for oil, I would go amsoil. Royal is sketchy IMO. Mobil isn't what it used to be, but it's not awful.

Muscle Cars
I use Amsoil in all my cars except the Challenger. The only reason I use Moblie 1 in it Amsoil don't offer 0W-40 for it.

royal purple does make a true synthetic with high anti wear additives. They also make a filtered dyno with synthetic additives and market it as a synthetic. FYI mobil one is not a synthetic, but if you are under warranty and the dealership sees a purple dyed oil they can void your powertrain warranty.
i have used gibbs and amsoil under extreme conditions. I was really happy with amsoil z-rod but I dont know if i can recommend it for non cammed cars. I am going to run amsoil domintor for my next track day on the first. It is red and I was unhappy about that but it is high in antiwear (not as high as zrod) but has a higher shear rating. I also cant say i recommend this for non track situations. these high in antiwear material oils also kill your cats fyi. It all depends on how long you want to keep the car. Also how hard you are on it. A good oil WILL lengthen the life of the various fluid taking components of your drivetrain. If you need a lower cost brand litle has said vr1 and he is right. I wouldnt run that in a modified car or on the track. inform yourself and choose goodluck
