1989 Iroc Z 350 TPI coupe with T tops value

I'm looking for advice on the value of a 1989 IROC Z/28 coupe, T tops, L98 350 TPI engine. Black with black/grey interior, 46K miles, recent professionally done black paint ( original color ), interior is flawless. Car needs nothing.

I had an 89 IROC-Z with the 5.7 and T-tops. It was bright blue with gray interior. Here is a link to some IROC's for sale on ebay, might give you some idea.

I would check and decode the vin. I say this because the irocs with the 5.7 (350 cid) came with the 700r4 automatic and no t-tops. They made to much torque for the body and those things flex like crazy. Also look at the rear left corner behind the cylinder head and you will see either 5.0 or 5.7 on the block. Unless somebody changed the engine out it would have a 5.0 (305).

As the former owner of a then brand new 1989 IROC-Z that had both the 5.7 and T- tops, I would beg to differ. There may have been few made but they were out there. Mine was bright blue. Here is someone's original window sticker. The 5.7 ltr engine option (B2L) and the removable glass panels (CC1)

I had an 88 Iroc when I was 16. Great times in that car. It seemed fast at the time. Ran 15's. lol. Is it yours or are you looking to buy?

Ok. I stand corrected. I didn't think they had built any 5.7's with t-tops. o well, learn something everyday...

Car is a real 89 Iroc with the L98 350, auto and T tops. Unfortunately it wasn't as nice as the seller described. Needs tires ( they are 11 years old ) , head liner coming down, both interior arm rest/door pulls broken, has a cam, has headers that bang against the floor etc. I could live with and repair all that BUT it is obvious the right door and fender have been hit and are not very straight, very obvious on a black car. The car hasn't been repainted so the original paint is a 6 or 7 out of 10. Seller wants $6800, to me it's worth between $3500 and $4000 tops. I think I'll just keep looking till I find a decent driver quality 305 TPI, 5 speed preferably without T tops.

Those 5 speed transmissions are junk and break easily. Only reason I'd look for a manual car is if I were planning a T56 swap. Yes, the t-tops leak in the 3rd gens, but having a hard top just isn't the same. I bought a hard top 90 Iroc awhile back just because it was a 90. I wished it had t-tops. I didn't keep it long. Nashville craigslist has a blue 86 listed that sounds interesting. Check it out.

My IrocZ is a 1989 with 5.7 (350) t-tops. Yes very few made and are rare. I have this baby since new I place the order. I think GM only made less than 3,000 with that option. Mostly were 305 (5.0). You could not get a standard shift with the 5.7 engine.

I still search weekly for a third gen. I grew up with them. I had an '85 Berlinetta with the digital dash and t-tops...car had a rough life prior to me and there was barely a straight panel on it. In all of the cars that I have own, it was probably one of few cars that I have ever owned that was in "poor" shape - but I LOVED that car. I brought it back to a really nice car. And my t-tops NEVER leaked.

I had a '87 IROC 215hp TPI lb9 3.45 gears, limited slip, 4 wheel disc brakes, engine oil cooler. Beat the crap out of it for 19 years and 206,000 miles

and never had a prob with the T5.
The guys who were speed shifting and modding the cars and putting them behind 5.7Ls did, but mine was stock.

Maybe junk was a little harsh. What I meant was, they can't support much power.
