My dealer said they should get their initial allocation number today (he said this on Friday, 7 Aug.) and they could order on Tuesday (tomorrow). He said it is constantly changing info they are getting from GM. He also said they wouldn't get pricing for a while. I need to hold off until I know prices. I don't like to spread misinformation, just repeating what my dealer said. I do trust him, he is straight FWD., no bs. He also said they probably wouldn't get more than 1 or 2 by Christmas, and they are fairly large dealer.

It is true that lead up for any new model will have constantly changing info, I know this applies to Chevy and have no doubt across the industry, and during the Marketing presentation at the Fest one of the comments indicated the guide numbers still had not been released.

The size of the dealership will not be relevant. A dealer who delivered 600 new vehicles a month but only a couple of those were Camaros will only get a couple of Camaro allocations where a dealer doing 100 a month of which 10 were Camaros will get about ten Camaro allocations a month.

Bummer so it looks like it'll be hard to even get a hold of one at the beginning?

Not any harder than any other new vehicle but keep in mind the importance of allocation and the very likely chance that orders will be half V8 and half V6.

If getting an early build is important than look for dealers that move a lot of Camaros. But also remember if you have a relationship with your local dealer it is equally good to wait a little while. And everyone even whoever wins the auction for 100001 will have to wait at least a little while before taking delivery.
