Those of you in Arizona, I need recommendations!

So, I'm wondering those of you with rims, when you need new tires and don't want someone messing your rims up, damaging them or scratching them, where do you take your cars to have your new tires mounted and balanced?

Thanks in advance!

I'm just saying, anytime i've gone to Discount tire, my wheels have been ****ed with. Whether it's cracks on the rim, scratches or scuffs, they're no.1 to not go to.

I never had any problems with Discount Tire at the Scottsdale Pavilions.

That I know, definitely won't use discount tire.

Do you know what machine they use to remove and mount new tires? There's specific machines used for after market wheels. I just have a hard time trusting discount tire :/

I typically have watched them do the process (this has been for at least 12 vehicles over the last 10 years) and I always see them use a tire changer that grasps the wheel from the back side.

My experience has been great, no problems with after market wheels nor with factory mag style wheels...

Wheel Specialist was the only place that could balance the wheels on my GTO to where it wouldn't shake the damn steering wheel. They are the best in the Phoenix area.

That being said, they are damn expensive. I landed up having my wheels done at the Discount by the university. Great guys and no issues. Each discount is different. Some are great, some I wish would burn down with the employees trapped inside.

I work at Discount. While some don't like Discount Tire or don't trust them, it really depends on which one you go to and what techs you have working on your vehicle. I will tell you that at my store, any time a "nice" vehicle comes in with nice rims, a more senior tech is thrown on that car to make sure that they don't get messed up.

To answer your question about what machine is used, it's a very large tire changer, can't remember the brand name. Has a bead breaker on the side, clamps that clamp from inside/outside and duck head to dismount the tire and remount.
