Downside to tuning an auto?

I was wondering if, after modding and tuning your auto, do you lose any of the factory goodies? I wouldn't want to lose the rev-matching feature, nor any other feature that makes the a6 a little bit more than just your average auto.

You wont lose any of its features with a good tuner, all functions still there. What kind of power are your goals?

Ted (owner/tuner) at Jennetty racing has a 2012 ZL1 auto, good question for him.

I'll be waiting for the answer.

I haven't set any goals yet. The last thing I want is a race car with poor street manners. I've been down that road before. If I have to give up too much, I'll just keep it stock. I would love to have more power but...

I daily drive my 650+whp ZL1 auto. It has been tuned in both S and D modes and it still has all features and drives great. That being said you do need a tuner who knows what they are doing.

I see no loss of auto control or PTM modes with my tranny tuning. Everything works well at the road course with rev matching, etc. As far as I can tell, no downsides at all.

Thanks for the replies. It'll make my decision easier once I decide to pull the trigger. My next problem will be to find a capable local tuner.

Stephen, after going to Summit Point raceway this past weekend, I was wondering just how the auto guys use their cars on these courses. Do you use the paddles, or just leave it in manual letting the computer do it's thing?

Paddle shifting is a lot of fun on the track, They really work nice. I like keeping both hands on the wheel and with the heads up display bring up the tachometer you can't go wrong. If you shift wrong the computer will not let you hurt anything, Plus I like using the engine brake setting up for the turns.

BIGDAVE It sure it, Everyone with the auto should try paddles on the track, The paddles work like they should and no delay. It's so much more fun then letting the computer shift for you.
