QTP Electric Cutouts
Link
Anyone have any experience with these? The videos sound pretty impressive. I wonder how it would behave with the L99. I remember reading somewhere about the AFM causing issues with back pressure or something like that.

I haven't had any experiance with electric cut outs as nice as those.
I did have cast iron manual cable operated cutouts on carbureted 383 stroker motor and they were awful. There was no seal what so ever so I ended up having to leave them open 24/7 so they wouldnt rattle and embarrass me. Took those off with the new exhaust for sure. horrible- I know a guy a black 1969 firebird that has cut outs and uses a metal plate, gasket, and wingnuts which worked perfect, except you had to get out of the car to take them off. I would venture a guess that the electric ones do not have as good of seal as the wingnut version, but I could be wrong. Good- |

These things are awesome. I had one and loved it. Sealed up great and worked flawlessly.

I've thought about getting something like this and I've sen these exact ones in previous research. If I remember right, I think that this brand was real good quality. I want to know how they would sound on the V6.

I perchased a pair of QTP's and enjoyed them for about a year until the butterfly disconected from the shaft, got a mccords after that, same product, just that mccord welds the butterfly to the shaft. QTP didn't weld theirs at the time, they may do it now.

I used these on my 91 and loved them until the servo fell off the valve. The exhaust shop that installed them for me didn't use any locktite on the two screws that keep them attached(there wasn't any instrucion to in the paper work so what do you expect). I tried to get QTP to send me two of these two little screws and the adapter that connects the servo shaft to the butterfly shaft but they blew me off. I loved the product otherwise but it left a bitter taste in my mouth when they wouldn't help me out.
p.s.- use locktite on the screws. |
