2010 Camaro 2SS/RS Turbo build UPDATE 6/2/2017 Now with more AIR

Hello all,

long time forum reader, made an account a little while back and finally decided to start a build thread since I'm pretty deep in it now.

Car started out as a 1 owner 2010 2SS/RS LS3 6MT. Day one:

Pretty soon, I was greedy and had to have more. I did some searching and decided eBay headers would work just fine.

And the ebay intake special.

Then I wanted more low. Ksport had a good price on springs with a 1.25" drop.

After I lowered it, I realized I had 3 of 4 pieces of the factory ground effects kit. To me, it looked goofy without a lip on the front. So naturally, that was next.

Finally, for looks, I decided I liked the full billet grill.

I did other small things, new radio and small sub in the trunk

AFR gauge since I was now catless and not completely stock

Not pictured is the waste of money I bought, Diablosport intune. About the only thing it was good for was turning off Skip Shift.

I loved the car where it was, for a long time. (6 months or so lol) I enjoyed smashing on Mustangs, 5.0s, 4.6s, whatever, as there was a ton of them in Fort Worth. One fateful day on the way home from work I ended up at the entrance to a 70mph one way highway with two lanes, at the front of the line, directly next to a 2012 Boss 302 Mustang. I got him off the line and until the top of third and he slowly left me....I was disappointed. First Mustang loss haha. Couple months went by and I found the best bang for my buck, but I had to install it. Totally worth it.

I ordered the turbonetics kit, and waited. While I waited, I reinstalled stock manifolds, sold the long tubes, sent my stock tune to turbonetics so they could make the changes and ordered lots of supporting stuff. JBA catless connections, AEM boost, and oil pressure, dual pillar pod, etc. When it came in, I got to work.

Went together fairly easy. I couldn't get time off of work, so I just worked on it before work everyday. It was a long week, and there were a few setbacks, but it wasn't bad.

Pretty much the week after I finished the install:

Car is an animal!

This is with muffler delete, res delete, cat delete. Basically "straight piped" (but if you look at the exhaust, it's definitely not straight lol)

So I've been running the kit at spring pressure, on base tune, since October. I was in the process of moving from Texas to New Mexico so I didn't really have to time to get a dyno tune or anything. Finally all settled in at the new place so I've been getting more things done.

Picked up some brand new BC coilovers, couldn't be happier with them.

Can't find a picture of them, but I ordered BMR 95 duro bushings for basically the whole rear, as well as the trailing arms and toe rods. Also an LPW IRS cover with the nice load bolts to keep the gears from flexing. (That's part of the reason the subframe is dropped.)

ZL1 pump going in

Subframe bushing out. Surprisingly good shape for 112k on the body.

I still have little odds and ends to clean up. Car is torn apart right now, as the subframe pics are from today (30 Apr). I have vacuum lines that need to be replaced, probably should pick up a catch can sooner than later. I'm running a breather on the engine fill port with a check valve for now to vent crankcase pressure.

Car currently has spacers on it to get a flush look, but I've ordered a new set of ZL1 replicas, 20x9 front witha +27 and 20x11 rear with a +43 for a new flush look and no spacers. Also dumped the money on a set of 305/35r20 Nitto NT555r since I've been running those in a 26" set up for a while and really liked them.

Wheels ordered in Matte black

Current set up

That's mom's camaro next to mine, she got all my old parts lol. Springs, spacers, intake, bought her some new headers, etc. While she was visiting from home. (Michigan to New Mexico, long drive)

More pics to come! She gets tuned week after next with FIC 95lbers, ZL1 pump, and more boost!

Very nice.

Cant wait to do my rear bushings and fuel filter swap.

Those bushings look in good shape.

Don't mind me asking, how did you remove them? Heat?

Nice! let us know if you want a proper crankcase evac system for that build. We notice a breather on one valve cover, we have systems that pull evacuation/suction at all times on turbo builds....next best to a belt driven vacuum pump.

UPDATE: 4 MAY

Wheels came in, as well as the Nitto, shift light, and injectors. Look even better than the pics off the website! Now I'm just waiting on my LNC-2000 and CTAP, and continental 5p.

Decided to weigh the tires as well, wanted to know if I was saving any weight with the new setup. Like 4lbs per corner or something like that, over stock SS wheels.

Tune has been pushed back to the 19th of May. Unfortunately, car just wasn't ready in time, nor were the parts here in time.

Stay tuned for more!

Small update: raptor shift light in, boost controller in. I highly recommend the new greddy electronic boost controller. Looks great, easy functionality, boost setting and gain settings, hi and low setting, etc. Great piece

Not pictured: ctap wired in except the the purple wire to CPP, as I'm awaiting the plug and play harness. Going to start on the lnc2000 tonight.

Didn't have time for much tonight. Just finished a little self tuning. Added a little fuel at wide open throttle, brought base boost level up to 6.5psi. Nice fat 11.5:1 AFR wide open. Boost peaking to about 8psi in the higher gears. 0 knock on 91.

(Car was peaking at about 4.5/5psi in the lower gears, around 6 in the higher gears. Profec allowed me to adjust the boost curve so it comes on gradually, instead of instantly, and add a few psi to make up for the altitude loss)

Goes on the dyno next Thursday for an official tune.

Did a little right after work. Probably going to take the night off. Wow! What a difference the turbo blanket made. I drove home from work, and by the time I got here (about a 7 minute drive) coolant temps were just over 200. Fans running of course. Just drove to the mailbox, let the car sit and idle for 5 minutes or so while I dug my keys out and got in the box, drove back, let it idle in the driveway for another 5 minutes and watched the temp. Never went over 196.
