V8 mpg with 4.10 gears?
friends corvette gets 27 mpg at 75 mph with 4.10 gears. does anyone have 4.10 gears? what mpg are you getting? what gears would make better gas mileage but still have some performance?

You could easily get 27 mpg with 4.10s if you were 600 lbs lighter like the Vette.
MPG is all in how you drive it.

The shorter the gears the lower it will move your car's highway mpg. Now driving around in the city, shorter gears might increase you mpg if it gets you to a cruising speed more efficiently.

In town may be a little better then current if you kept your foot out of it. On the highway, you will lose maybe 1 mpg.

All in all. I'd say MPG shouldn't steer you away from those 4.10's.

4.10's sure are alot of fun! A little pricey after you add all the goodies and such but well worth it in the end. Not much difference in gas mileage, as stated before, its how you drive er. Which I guess I drive more agressively now cause its so much damn fun!!!

I have 4:33 and big cam. I get 22 - 23 mpg on highway. You have two overdrives with an M6, I think they are .84 for 5th and .57 for 6th. Around town I can shift 1 - 3- 5 just over 2,000 rpm. Did not notice much change in town but it is the red lights and traffic that kills me. Only lost 1 to 1.5 mpg with gear. 4:33 adds 110 ft. lb. of torque at launch and dropped 60 ft. .2 to 1.60. I am an opponent of stiffer differential bushings. Stock bushings are quieter (picks up less noise from after market gear) and a little flex protects the drive line.
ALWAYS TURN TC OFF ( ONE PUSH) TO SHIFT OR LAUNCH HARD. ABS kicking in to stop wheel spin while applying extra torque breaks things. |
