Insurance with DUI?

Hey guys I was just wondering if anybody has had a DUI conviction or know of someone who has and how much they are paying insurance on a SS. Regretably I had a DUI about 4 years ago and am now 29 years old with no other traffic violations. Does anybody have an idea of how I can get the cheapest insurance possible. I do have a beater that is insured already and was thinking of putting my SS as a weekend driver on the policy. Do you think that would be best? Any other Ideas are welcome.

Just ask for a quote. Only a California underwriter would know.

They won't let you have that kind of policy if you finance. It typically has to be a full coverage 500 ded.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your DUI conviction. Your really just gonna need to contact them and ask. Depends on how old it is but expect it to be expensive.

This probably isn't ethical but if you are married you can have your wife purchase the car and have her get insured under a different insurance company then yours without you on the policy at all. Then again if you get in an acident in her car her insurance will sky rocket.

If I were you I would look at the Collector Car Insurance offerings. (i.e. Grundy, Hagerty, etc.).

Just a quiet recommendation.

I use Hagerty for my 67 Camaro Convertible, they are VERY strict about driving records, and traffic violations. I doubt they would insure you with a DUI conviction on your record, but I guess there would be no harm in trying.

Have somebody else "buy it and put in there name and your a secondary driver". Dont know if i should tell you this because i dont know if i want you on the road with my self and family members out there. Sorry I just dont have sympathy for people who do this. I have never done it my self.

It is understandable that any insurer will want to cover theire butts so to speak.

I have been with one of the Collector Car Insurer's for almost 10 years now. I had one Speeding ticket in that time, and had no issues (Yes it was with one of the insured vehicles I owned at the time.)

Basically it boils down to shopping around and seeing what is available and respective prices in your area. I know it has saved me a ton of money over the years, so I can enjoy my toy.

Hey did you ever get your car yet? i remember you said it was built on the
20th or something of march? but I said CGM no way.. I was the first delivered at courtesy on 4/26, back to Insurance Unless your buying it outright your gonna need full coverage as your financer will require it, plan on 150+ a month with a DUI, My buddy pays that for 2006 f250. Weekend Driver seems to be a non-existent term for Cali Insurance carriers. I tried that and had no luck.
