Resonators

Im thinking about having the resonators cut out and just straight pipe back from the converters to the mufflers. Will this void my warranty and has anyone here tried it?

Nothing you do after the catalitic converters on back will void you warrenty. They might try to void your exhaust warrenty. But most likely that won't happen either. Since anything done after the cats won't affect the cat.

There no benefit from it. They are only there to tune out drone resonance. Slap an axle back muffler set up on there if you want the exhaust to sound better.

The guy at the exhaust shop I talked to today said he did this to a corvette. It made it sound alot better he says anyways. I plan on doing the axel back a little later on but cant afford it at the moment. Gotta pay uncle sam for the privelage of owning this awesome car lol.

That makes me a little nervous he obviously was confused or just blowin smoke up my butt. Im more worried about losing back pressure and losing HP from cutting them out but with the mufflers still there i should be safe right?

A L99 with no resonator and a CAI (No tune) put down 367rwhp the other day.

Full Exhaust i.e. Borla - deletes the resonator so you have nothing to worry about.

Removed the resonators today sounds WAY better. Best $80 I could have spent on the car.

Well Im sure I can try tomorrow its a little late to rev the motor lol. Dont wanna wake the neighbors. It does have a bit of a pop when you rev it up in park but not much. I am having flowmaster cans installed friday. I would recommend having the resonators removed by anyone wanting to get better sound for a lot less money. I think it made the car a bit more responsive as well.

Oh, so you have an automatic. I thought you were talking about the 2 resonators on an LS3. That massive 1 resonator on an L99 will make a big difference in sound.

Especially when you go into AFM 4 cyl mode. You'll find out what drone is and why it was there.

Before doing any more exhaust mods, I'd research systems that don't drone with the L99. Put the wrong thing on there, and the car will be undriveable unless you use a tuning device to turn off the AFM 4 cyl mode.

Drone is a humming resonance that will make your brain vibrate.

Well Friday I am having Flowmaster mufflers put on. Have people been having problems after putting exhausts on their cars? Im not planning on anything else after the mufflers but if its gonna cause problems I wont. The car actually sounds good with the resonators out but I want it a little louder. I dont guess it has drone because its fairly quiet in the car.
