I'd be interested to hear from people who have done this.

Why did you need it??
How did it go?
Did it get your problem solved?
Are you still glad you did it?

I needed it to remove my oil pan in order to change my oil pan gasket.
It goes great as long as you cut it in the right place.
Yes it solved my problem.
And I'm very glad that I did it on two 5th gens now.

Why did you need it?? - oil pan seal leak. Much easier than pulling motor or lifting it enough for clearance.

How did it go? - Perfect. I had someone else install since I don't have a welder. Paid for the flanges, paid someone $200 to cut, weld, and paint.

Did it get your problem solved?

Yes, 100% on the last two items. Zero issues.

The instructions he ships are rather explanatory and diagram exactly where to cut.

I was trying to find out what the view was like from the bottom with the oil pan off.

Got my flange's.

Scheduled to get the car to the shop on Monday, welder on Tuesday.

It didn't come with bolts. Did anybody come up with some special nut/bolts, or just Lowes Grade 8's? What size are they? 5/16" I'd guess?

After the cut is made, do the 2 sides need to be 'pulled' together at all, or slip fit them back in?

Thanks,

-KP

Sorry I don't remember the exact size but I just took my flanges with me to the local parts store and found some grade 8 bolts, nuts, and lock washers. Put the two together and find a bolt that extend enough out the end enough to get the nut and lock washer to sit about flush when bolted together. And make sure you get a diameter that fills the hole well enough.
