Help: Need sticky rear tires/wheels for 2012 ZL1

Hey guys. First time poster.

My dad has a 2012 ZL1 with the stock tires and wheels. He says that he simply cannot grab traction. He would like me to remedy that situation for Father's Day.

His thoughts were a standalone set of different tires and wheels. Is this the way to go?

Is there a better rubber that will work on the standard wheels and provide much more traction? It can be very aggressive as he doesn't drive it in the rain for reasons I can't understand. [see sig]

If the best way to go is what he suggests which is a super aggressive drag type tire on a separate set of wheels....what setups are the best?

Thank you very much!

Best,
Gene

So the MT ET Streets P305/35R20 will fit on the stock rim without any clearance issues? Part number 3402? I know that's the stock size but sometimes weird sh!t can happen.

What are a good set of wheels to run with them? Anyone sell the black ZL1 wheels? Maybe I can simply get a stock wheel to make the whole thing look better.

Thanks!

Best,
Gene

My goodness....the stock wheels are insanely expensive. I just spoke with my dad and he wants a set of wheels and tires not just tires.

Can anyone suggest a wheel/tire combo in black that will work? I'm not sure what other size wheels/tires people are running. I'm not looking to break the bank here.

Thanks!

Best,
Gene

You can get the reproduction ZL1 wheels. They look a little different, and they're cast instead of forged, but close enough.

Whats his HP level? For stock you do not need DRs.

Check out the Forgestar line, they are not too expensive, and its a good wheel. I went with Varro wheels on mine, cheaper than Forgestar, and I think a better looking wheel. The same fitment 20x11 20x10 with a 315-35 20 on the rear. Look at the vendor wheel section on the forum, you have a lot to pick from there. Welcome to the forum, Gene.
