I hit up website for the perf'd black tail lights but it says they're backordered. When will they be available?

Had mine painted with candy. No issues yet and the red reflector on top of the lights still reflects at legal distance.

Check with your local laws... it's all on distance the lights can be seen from at night... here it's 500ft. So if they can be seen from that far, then the blackouts are legal and I am not at fault if I am rear ended.

Maybe it varies by state, but why would YOU be at fault if someone else rear-ended you? In my experience in South Carolina, the rear-ender is typically ticketed as "following too closely".

They could easily claim you slowed down rapidly, and without being able to see the break lights properly they weren't able to stop in time, you would definitely be at fault if your break lights do not meet regulations.

People are ticketed everywhere for rear ending someone. However, if you can't see their taillights - or at least could argue that you couldn't - you would definitely have a case to sue.

I see your point here, but that wasn't my point.

If that's true then that's just sad. Last time I checked, it's the driver's responsibility to drive the proper distance behind the car in front (no one seems to do this). If you can't tell that someone is slowing down or stopping (functional brake lights or not), it's your fault through negligence if you hit that person.

It's like when my G35 was rear ended and the woman claimed that she had just gotten her brakes fixed and then told me the shop would be paying for it. It was HER fault that she was tailgating me and didn't have time to stop or swerve around me before colliding with my bumper. Regardless of whether her brakes were in working order, she made the choice to follow too closely and, ultimately, to rear end me.

End off-topic rant regarding the sue-happy state of humanity.

well....the only real solution i see....is to buy my blackouts, because they are darker than any and they let the untinted true reflection of the tail light thru.......lol
