Poor babies. I can only imagine asking for a gear indicator back when I drove a truck for the summer with a 10 speed Roadranger with a brownie box. That’s 5 gears in low range, 5 gears in high range split by the brownie. Or 20 gears, no indicator. F up and you lunched a main box, an auxiliary box or both. If you were lucky, just a driveshaft...or two.
