Lol I will be test driving one to know exactly what I'll be missing. Although I don't expect it to make me cancel my Mustang order. The 1LE is more akin to the best they could do to the SS Camaro at the end of it's chassis life. Just like the Boss is to the S197. The s197 didn't have a z28 competitor so that's a moot argument that I'm sure will be brought up. That said, I wouldn't cancel my order just to get the best an old chassis had to offer, as I believe the S550 is a better platform to start from given the differences in the packaging of the track based packages. I would however trade that Mustang in or cancel it if the new 6th gen came out and I liked what it had to offer. Disappointed or not as I am with Ford, I am still excited to get my Mustang. I'm a big fan of them, I have history with them. I also really enjoy the heritage of the Mustang. IMO the mustang has a lot more going for it than performance numbers and currently that means more to me than the Camaro winning at the track. However give me two years with the Mustang and I might be over that and want to go with the better performer. We shall see. Either way, I see either one of these generation of cars being in my Garage for a very long time. Might be the last generation of affordable V8's. |

Now the question is if they will release another Boss in a few years with real tires/wheels/brakes..., until then I bet no 302 owner will be trading theirs in. If Ford would have rocked it I would have jumped ships. Cheaper for me now.

The thing that really astonishes me is the fact that we have 2 Camaro 1LE's manufactured ~2 years apart driven by the same driver when they were brand new on the same track and they both finish within about 1 tenth of a second of each other. Modern manufacturing is frankly amazing. Glad that the Camaro won though. The 1LE is clearly still the performance deal of the decade. As Randy said "90% of the Z/28." Now all I need is a Flowtie.

For this being the 50th anniversary and them just laying a serious egg like this after all the hype really is sad. They moved away from the SRA lighter platform to perform with the best for just this kind of racing. How do you not outperform a 3yr old package on a platform that is on it's way out? Also, some are confusing what the 1LE is. It is a package put on a SS. It is still a SS. Just like the performance package is put on the GT and still essentially a GT. Totally fair comparison and in reality if any car should have been at a disadvantage it should have been the 1lE which hasn't changed since the 2013 MY. Ford had plenty of testing time to make sure their new car outperformed the old outdated 1LE.
