$17 seat covers/tents

I can't find the thread now but a little while back there was discussion about finding seat covers to keep them cool if you park in the sun with the top down. Someone mentioned using bath towels so yesterday, I stopped at Target and rigged up a couple of ghetto seat tents. I picked up two bath towels that are 30"x54" for $5 each. And a couple hand towels that were $3.50 each (on sale). The hand towels are 28" long so they're nearly the same width as the bath towels. $17 and a bunch of safety pins later, I ended up with this:

There's obviously a bunch of ways this could have gone but I'm fairly satisfied with their ease of putting on and taking off. You can toss them in the trunk or even on the floor behind the front seats when you don't need them. In reality, all you need is some kind of strap to loop around the headrest so it can even be cheaper if you have some nylon webbing lying around. Or you can use the smaller towel to create a pocket and cover the headrest completely. Some day, I might get around to sewing them together but the safety pins were much more to my liking (I'm that lazy).

And if someone decides to reach in and steal them, I'm out less than twenty bucks.

Serves dual purpose incase you are swimming, you received an emergency phone call and no time to towel off.

Whatever you do in the privacy of your own bedroom is your own business.

That's one of the reasons I prefer cloth seats.
