Congrats old friend. I cannot figure out a way to embed but, Phil's son recorded and made this video of a Camaro Rev tribute 136 of us did for Phil last weekend. Phil's wife Donna came out and brought the ZL1 for the tribute. RIP buddy. (Forgive Phil's son for not spelling Camaro correctly & my backside in the vid ) LOL Trust me when i say this cell vid didn't even come close to capturing how loud all those cars were. Still waiting for a better full vid of the tribute.

Thanks for making this happen.

He later let us use it in a Motor Trend magazine test and it ran 10's in the 1/4 mile which was a big deal back in those days. He then went on to do a lot of SCCA Trans Am racing and was a very successful racer in the Southeast Region. More recently we had the opportunity to build him a couple of fast Camaros.

I quickly became friends with Philip as we shared the same passion for fast cars. He and Donna were the classic picture of the American dream. Phil drove semi trucks and then went into the carpentry business. He eventually became one of the top master carpenters for home builders such as David Weekly. He had a lot of cool cars and was always excited to share them anywhere he went. He and Donna would travel around in their toterhome race rig. And on the last 2 vehicle builds they drove over to Texas trailering their Camaros to our shop. And they camped out in their rig while we built there cars then they drove home 2-3 days later.

I am crushed and deeply saddened to lose such a fine man and wonderful friend. I wish to pass along my deepest condolences to Donna and the Simms family. Philip's legacy and memory will live on for a long time as he was such a positive influence on so many people, including me.

Thanks John for stopping in and giving us a liitle look into what Phil ment to you. My wife and i have only know Phil and Donna for little over a year, but what a year it was.We pretty much did every car event weekend there was,a lot of dinners, late nights and stories Phil talked highly of you and how everyone at your shop wondered who he was cause he walked around where normal people arent allowed, typical Phil answer ' im nobody'..lol. Well those who truly were Phils friends know that hes definately somebody,he was,is,and will always be MY FRIEND...congrats on COTW, you will truly be missed but never FORGOTTEN, i know youre tearing up heavens racetrack with earnhardt now

The state of my Black wheels was something Phil always gave me stick about...I never cleaned them and he always said I should be ashamed to take my car out with dirty wheels...he promised to show me how to clean my wheels properly seeing as I clearly had no idea.... and the photo above was him showing me exactly how it should be done.

It was shortly after this photo was taken that I promised Phil I would never let him down by having dirty wheels at a show again.

The photo below was taken at SSCRII last weekend, and I hope Phil was looking down on me knowing that he made a huge impression on me in the time we had spent together. And yes, that's me on my hands and knees cleaning my wheels.

Never had the pleasure of knowing such a great man, but I can see he is greatly missed by many. I'm glad he was given COTW and I hope he enjoys his view from Heaven. Rest in peace Phil!

Video of the tribute we had for Phil at the 2nd Annual Sunshine State Camaro Rally. Phil was excited to go and passed away a few days before.

Hehe. We tried to give him something he would have appreciated.

Immediately following that was THIS 900HP burnout .
