Fist I hope your nanny is going to do well, second your right about getting a break on this occasion, and maybe you will still once you explain to the judge what was up on that day.
I know that every time I drive my car be it this one or any other ive ever owned that I am going to speed. Period end of conversation. So on the very rare occasion I do get a ticket It really does not upset me at all because ive gotten away with probly hunderds if not thousands of violations when no po po were around. I just see it as paying my share of thier salary to keep the streets semi safe. And I have gotten my fair share of breaks even when being written up for 65 in a 55 instead of 80 in a 55. So dont let it bother you too much. And good luck in court.

Got a reckless driving ticket for doing 76 in a 45. Speed trap about 5 miles outside the city, on country roads. The wonderful duo of Sheriff's Dodge Chargers sat right in the 1/8 mile of stretch where the speed limit dropped from 55 to 45. Everyone on the road was doing 65 (20 over, which is reckless driving) so I stuck out like a sore thumb doing thirty over in a bright yellow Camaro... Needless to say I got a lawyer, because God knows how much my insurance would be affected by that...

As for you, I hope your Nanny turns out just fine, and the judge gives you a break. I don't see why he wouldn't.

If the cops let every person in your situation just drive however they want, then the streets would be absolute chaos.

I'd like to hear some resident Camaro5 LEO views on this one.
He said "There's no law that says you can speed when you're using your flashers" I responded with a confirming nod and "Yes sir" (down in the South thats mandatory if you had good parents)

He asks "Where did they take her UAB", I told him St. Vincents. He told me to slow it down she's in good hands there.

Maybe it's just the locals around here, but he kind of had the smug 'gotcha' attitude. I had the impression that he thought I was lying.

I fully respect officers and despite being in the situation never act like a jerk to them. We both knew the law, and that I had broken one, but it felt like salt in the wounds to my already crappy day.

If everyone's grandma was on the verge of dying all at once...then maybe.

You missed the point of this entirely.

It's always something. My grandmother is dying, my son broke his leg, my mom is in a traffic accident, the list goes on and on. I'm sorry about your situation. But everybody has emergencies. Doesn't always have to be G-ma.

The judge may give you some help, but that cop has to do his job. Good luck.

as much as I hate to say it, I tend to agree. on top of that, you have to figure someone who's as shaken up as you is going to have enough trouble concentrating on the road. speeding isn't going to make it easier.

Luckily, I'm married and that helps with insurance.
And also my deepest regards to your Nanny and hope everything is well with her and your family.

I'm glad a couple of others said what they did because honestly, what would you getting to the hospital a couple of minutes faster accomplish?

The cop was right. She was in good hands and she probably would clobber you for driving that fast on her account.
