Exhaust and Headers

I installed the Corsa Performance exhaust on my car and I get a fair ammount of soot build-up on the tips. Is this because I didn't get her re-tuned and she's running a little rich? Also, I'm looking at some Kook long-tube headers, p/n2250H430, for another upgrade. My question is what would happen without a re-tune? Is it neccessary? I was told to go to a speed shop and they'd re-tune it, I'm a little ignorant in this area. Thanks.

If you want the most out of it, definitely tune it again.

The experts will be along shortly but as I understand it there is little to no performance gains to be had from just adding an exhaust. So I highly doubt it would throw off a good tune enough to warrant a retune. On these cars there is very little power to be found after the catalytic converters.

By this, I meant after you do the headers.

Black soot is a camaro brand. These cars run RICH. Very normal.

Nice. I have been thinking about that exhaust for a while, it looks like one of the best.

Do you have an intake? If you don't then get one and then get a tune. I would also recommend going with off road pipes if you can.

FWIW, my tuner's comment after his baseline dyno runs (before headers, PTB and tune but after CAI) was, "it's running quite a bit rich". Much better after dynotune.

I have an 06' Diesel that I have a portable tuner for. Is this kind of tuning package similar or is it something where the car needs to go to a shop?

Have you looked into the PFADT series Tri-Y headers?
