Steering Wheel shake???

He guys got a question i stored my rims over the winter and put them on, now when i drive the steering wheel shakes. is this a bent rim or a bad tire that i messed up by improperly storing the wheels?

Thanks!

EDIT:
checked tire pressure
I had a balance done...the tech did not say anything to me about bent rims/bad tires but it still does it...maybe a minor improvement from when i got them done

Is it as simple as wheel balance?

Yeah, I'd check the balance first. Assuming you've already checked tire pressure.

Check your tie rod ends and make sure they are tight.

Mine does it too, only at 60-65 mph, more like a shimmy though.

Can't go to the dealer because they will claim its the aftermarket wheels.

If your suspension, wheels are all stock Id just keep on the dealer until they make it go away. Probably just an alignment issue, the factory doesn't align as well as a certified tech. And see if you can get an alignment with you sitting in the car, or someone adult size.

The rack is only as good as the experience of the guy performing the alignment though.

Hope this helps, probably wont get much decent advice on this because its not a flame topic. Its probably because the car is not a V8, or just your imagination because Camaros are perfect.

I'd have a different shop check the balance again.

Mine has that shimmy at 60-65, only on one local freeway.

Sounds like a bad balance job.

How did you store them? You might have a flat spot(s) in the tires

Exactly. Most tires will form flat spots if they aren't driven on frequently, and they are not laid flat during storage. The cure is driving on them, getting some heat back into them so that the flat spot works itself away. 20-30 miles should be plenty.
