Switching out Oil in your V6
Those who have the V6 are you going to stick with Dino or change to Synthetic and which brand ?
what mileage will you wait to do so ? For me it would be Mobil 1 at around 2500-5000 then every 4500-5000 with no worries using the " OLM " .. Last edited by fee5fofum; 08-27-2009 at 08:58 PM. |

I'll continue to change with the dino to about 5000k miles then switch to Mobile 1.

Lets try this :
For the V8 owners , what does your oil fill cap say on it ? Mobile 1 / SAE 5w-30 For the V6 Owners , what does your oil fill cap say on it ? SAE 5w/30 This should hopefully square this discussion up... Last edited by fee5fofum; 07-05-2009 at 09:46 AM. |

We don't need to look it's dino oil.
If I was buying new what I would do it drive probably 300-500 on the stock and change it to Royal Purple break-in oil out to 3000 miles then to regular Royal Purple 5-30. Of course that's just what I would do. |

Changed oil at 900 miles via free dino dealer change - switching to Mobil 1 at 3,000 miles.

Plan on doing the same, 1st oil change before 1000 (dino free at dealer) then switch to Mobil 1 at 3000 (done by me from here on out).

What about switching to Mobil 1 synthetic at 1300 to 1500 miles? Is this not a wise choice or is it too soon to change to sythetic at 1500 miles?

Rolling along...

Not to open this can of worms but what are the real advantages of switching to synthetic oil? It costs more but doesn't break down as quickly. Am I missing anything?

oil
Been debating the same thing. Guess if you drive a lot of mile in a short period of time you could go by the mfg. suggested change interval.

Synthetic helps lubricate / cool better and therefore increases mechanical component life. Need to know though, if you go Synthetic, you can never go back to non-synthetic again.
