Theft Prevention

I would imagine that the 2010 Camaro may be a hot item for car thieves. I plan to get a manual trans...so that may eliminate those 50% of thieves that don't know how to drive a stick...but, what about the others?

Will there be a factory theft prevention option?
Is LoJack a good system?
Or is there something else available.

What are you going to do to prevent your precious 2010 Camaro from becoming a theft statistic?

Can you have Lojack installed? I've heard it's the best. I've heard good things about onstar, but how much do the two cost? Is there a big difference in price?

I know onstar can help find the car..I guess that is also what lojack does. But, what about preventing it from being stolen in the first place?

Depends... can LoJack send you service reminders and turn-by-turn directions?

That was very sarcastic but funny too lol

From what I read GM has good security systems, if you stick a wrong key somewere and the whole system shuts damn and only a dealership can unlock it

I've heard GMs newer cars have steering columns that are difficult to break into and start the car, while Hondas I'm told are child's play to start.

I think this is an all-new column, so I have no idea what it's capabilitiy is.

Like somebody else mentioned in another thread:

Get a manual, whoever steals cars is way too stupid to drive a stick shift

A buddy of mine works for an insurance company so I shot him an email asking him about this and what he tells me is that his (as well as most others) risk management department gives GM vehicles extremely high ratings in theft prevention because they are significantly harder to hot wire / key clone then a Honda or Toyota. He also said that of the Japanses auto makers Nissan ranks the highest since they apparently use a technology similar to GM for encoding the engine management computer to the keys.
