Calipers Painted

So I decided I'd paint my calipers blue. I have always loved the look of the blue calipers on the Cyber Gray ZR1s so I decided to try to mimic that. It's a bit darker blue than the Z but I think it still looks good.

I used Dupli-Color Metalcast paint. 2 coats of silver metallic base coat, 3 coats of blue top coat. Took forever just because I only have one jack, so it's one wheel at a time to remove, mask, and paint 5 layers with at least 10 minutes between coats. I only got half done today. It's definitely not hard, just lfrustrating to get that stupid tape in the tiny little spaces.

All masked off:

Cleaning up the edges with a very fine brush:

Finished:

So after working for 6 straight hours two days in a row, my grandpa and I were a little loopy from Laquer Thinner and too much sun, so we had some fun. We painted the bowtie on the T-shirt we had used as a drop cloth and he stuck me with tape.

Thanks for looking, we had a lot of fun doing it.
-Matt

I agree I saw it in person. The pictures don't do it justice. As I told Matt in person, the Calipers set off the blue metal flakes in CGM.

Taping sucks doesn't it? It looks good, good luck with the rest of the job.

Yes Tim stopped by on his way home from work to boost my morale. I thought he'd offer to do the other two for me, but no dice.

I was going to paint mine as I did my previous ride but found these and went this way instead. They're made of aircraft aluminum and allow the brakes to run 30 to 50% cooler since they pull the heat from the calipers acting as a heat sink. Wish I had ordered them maybe in another color and with the RS logo but I'm happy with them!

Wow, really jumps out at you now! Great way to make a statement with just a few coats of paint! Great job, love the look!
