explain
The old rule I always knew that to qualify as a production car to race in stock classes the minimum build was 50 cars. This was to prevent manufacturers from building wild one offs to to race in competition. I have not heard of anything different but i have also not followed the NHRA sportsman racers as closely as i used too the last few years. |

My comment has nothing to do with the way NHRA looks at "stock".

The argument is over is it a "production car?"
I said the NHRA views it as a production car. The words from the GM exec was "most expensive Camaro produced" Despite what you think the COPO was a production run with options for the buyer. It was extremely limited but that was per NHRA rules. It had its own special assembly point but i don't see how that is any different than the LS7 being hand built at its own special location. As for the other part of my price equation - the Z07. It is a pretty expensive package that included aero improvements and carbon ceramic brakes. The Z07's MSRP was about 90k. Then I made the guess that the price is probably 86,500 because it is more expensive than a COPO and featured some of the "extras" a Z07 had on it. I stand by that MSRP considering it is a guess and nothing more. |

As I said before you have some homework to do...
...regarding your guess the base Corvette was $50K, the base Camaro $23K. Throw on the upgrades and your not anywhere near a Z07.
