Need some help!
Going to the track next Thursday. I have Mickey Thompson 305/45/18 ET Drag Radial on set of 18 inch rims. It is a 1/8th mile track.
Do I go thru the waterbox? How long of a burnout? Air pressure to run in the tire? Launch at what RPM? |

good luck , i,m still learning..everyone says 18lbs, make sure you check cold...also everyone says approx heavy burnout 5 seconds or good smoking from rear for a few seconds , whatever comes first...i ran last week, did not get mine hot enough...did not hook..i would try 2800 first and see if it hooks , then try again...also rwhp has a lot to do with it also..

OK..HERE IS A LITTLE LIGHT ON YOUR QUEST FOR A GOOD ET... LOTS OF PEOPLE LIKE TO BURN OUT IN THE WATERBOX...THIS IS NOT THE PROPER WAY.
GO INTO THE WATER BOX, TURN YOUR WHEELS OVER JUST A FEW TIMES JUST TO GET THEM WET, AFTER YOUR TIRES ARE WET, AT THAT POINT YOU WILL THEN MOVE A FEW FEET FORWARD, (WERE YOUR OUT OF WATER PATH) AND THEN ROAST THEM FOR ABOUT 4-6 SECONDS, (OVER HEATING TIRES ONLY MAKE THEM GREASY) PULL UP TO THE STAGING LINE, DEPENDING ON TRACK PREP, CONDITIONS, WHEATHER, SUN SHINE? ALL THESE THINGS TAKE ACCOUNT, BUT AT WORST YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LAUNCH AT 2500RPM AT BEST 4000RPM WITH VERY LITTLE WHEELS HOP. LAUNCHING IS TRIAL AND ERROR. IT BRINGS TO LIFE THE TRUE DEFINITION TO TEST&TUNE. Also from my trial and error, around 22-26 pounds of tire presure, is best to high makes wheels spin, too low make you lose mph on trap.

ther are tons of factors, 1 very important one is rwtq and rwhp...it is very easy to smoke them at the tree with a torquemonster with 700rwhp, versus a 425 rwhp 380rwhp car...burnout is half the battle, learning what you car and tires can handle at the hole...i did drop 2-3 psi thru the day, and ran same times but dropped 1/4 spped by 6-7 mph...trial and error...keep going to track and trying diff things...1 might hook better but slow you down at the end..remember a harder firmer tire takes less resistance and power to gain speed, yet dosen,t bulge well during taking off...
