Camaro Performance w/Minor mods
Guys,
I REALLY don't want or Intend to start a Flame war here, but I'm Really surprised at how our 5.0's are more or Less a FULL SECOND ahead, Mod for Mod of the Camaro's...I have a Fully Loaded Automatic Vert that weighs in at 3950 with me in it, and runs 11.7's VERY Consistently with JUST the MINOR mods in my sig., and I know that a Similar modded AUTO Camaro is at Least a Second Slower....

I don't have a Vert, but I ran 12.1 @ 114 mph with intake, exhaust, ported TB, and tune. I also ran Nitto drag radials. That was with the stock converter, stock gears, 20'' wheels, etc. In good air, with my new converter I will run high 11s. Here are two L99 A6 that have run high 11s with basic mods. Bolt-Ons

Why would you be surprised? Its a lighter car...
Are you also surprised the earth isnt flat? And your mods are not minor by any means. Minor is intake and a catback. |

I'm suprised he only ran 13.0 stock (slower than a several stock L99 A6 Camaros in this forum). And an L99 A6 with his mods (CAI, Exhaust, Tune, Converter, DRs) is going to run a lot faster than high 12s. It will run more like low 12s. |

The GT's got an advantage because of its lower weight. It has even more of an advantage over the convertable SS, because it weighs 200 lbs more than the coupe. The vert should run about .2 slower than the coupe on average. But the L99 A6 reponds extremely well to mods. In stock form, it is a little slower than the LS3 M6. But all it needs is a tune (reduce torque management) to equal the playing field. I never ran my car stock, but it ran 12.9 @ 108/109 (tune only). It ran 12.23 @ 113 mph with intake, full exhaust, tune, DRs. It ran 12.16 @ 114 mph with the addition of a ported TB and a better DA. I'm hoping for a 11.8s or so with the addition of my FTI 3200 stall, but the temperatures have been running close to 90 degrees in my area (S. Florida) so I'm going to need to wait for some better air. |

OK, agreed, although on the Weight thing, Remember I'm a Vert, so I'm very close to 4000Lbs (3950 With me in it)....But in your favor all my Recent Runs were in the 50degree air up here, I'm sure once we get that 80degree summer air I'll lose a Tenth or more....
