The only way a supplier issue makes sense to me is if there was a quality issue with a part that was the suppliers fualt. out of spec/print in someway and the lead time is driving the delay. Lets say you had a defect in a bactch of axel shafts or something. they would need to be swapped out ont he cars built and you would need new good parts to start production again.

Then even if you said screw you to that supplier you would still have to the time to spool up a replacement supplier.

At least you are waiting, I don't have one on the horizon or anywhere in my future.

I was told this by a GM rep who came to a local Chevrolet dealership to do some special testing.

Changing suppliers within a year would be difficult. Forget 2 months. There is something called a PPAP process that ensures quality. That is very involved & takes time to accomplish.

Some tests to validate these parts take 9000 hrs plus. Do the math... that's a year. I've failed 9000 hr durability tests before at about 8000 hrs. Then what? Start over? No way, no time. Determine root cause of the problem, develop a solution, implement solution, get good parts, validate, PPAP, ship new parts. Not so easy.

BTW, the longest step in the process sometimes is the root cause analysis. Remember the Prius uncontrolled acceleration deal? How long they try to find root cause on that one?

And finally, any supplier issue is a car issue. Last time I checked every supplier part goes into a CAR. Be patient there is nothing else you can do.

Not neccessarily. Even if they decide a particular supplier just can't make a part that's up to snuff, They would then have to FIND another suppier, have the new supplier get tooled up to make the part, get the parts delivered, then TEST the parts to verify they meet GM specs, availability, cost, etc, etc

Not a quick process.

Probably a supplier quality issue, and now we have to wait for them to fix issue, tool up, provide replacement parts and then put new parts into pipeline.

They may supply many other parts as well, most if not all, previously with no issue.

I like your thought process on this...I am actually more inclined to go along with this than some of the other theories I have heard the last few weeks. It really could take a great deal of time if the parts (s) were an internal for instance and then you have to re-build god-knows-what prior to release...that could take a VERY LONG TIME....I have #106 and thought I was good to go....Oh well.....

WARNING:

Keep comments respectful and on-topic. We only need to consider what happens in this Forum - nowhere else. I don't post the same way here that I do elsewhere (I'd be banned...), so I don't expect others to, either. REMEMBER: At CAMARO5, EVERYBODY is held to the same high standards; probably higher than most car communities, if any community, out there. While I detest attacks from the "other" guys, that doesn't mean "our" guys are allowed to attack either. I dont' care what car you love or hate.

I understand that we all have our passions. At the same time, we all need to remain respectful. This is a CAMARO community, and it's necessary for those that aren't on the fanatical side that that's just the way it is. However - it is for those on the fanatical side to still respect everyone else. Retaliation is not allowed nor endorsed in this Community. If you feel there is a questionable post - report it - don't go on the offensive.

This will be the next thread I shut down and delete and then NO ONE has anywhere to blow off their ZL1-delay frustration - I'll be handing out infractions right after. Consider this a final warning - it will be banning if you've been warned already, so please tread lightly...

Respectfully...

No hard feelings bro just busting your chops, I understand mustang guys are gonna defend Ford and Zl1 guys are gonna defend Chevy. I do have a sense of humor and I'm not "touchy" and I don't have a bumper sticker on my camaro that says cats not people or whatever it said LOL!

Mine was moved as well. It was supposed to be built March 7 which was the week the delay started but it has been moved to April 9. This sucks
