Not all track day organizations will pass you through tech and let you out on the track with a patched/plugged tire. Whether you or I or anybody else might be comfortable doing so is not the issue. Publicly at least, it's best to err on the side of being more conservative in this matter.

I would be very carefull if you go to the track with a plugged tire. If you must run with a plugged tire do not do a burn out as you could easily loose the plug. You also lose your speed rating once you plug a tire. If you must, just patch the tire. It sucks I know, put a nail in the sidewall one week after I picked up my new ZL1!
