GM has nothing to do with dealers charging ADM, and is, in fact, prohibited by law to set the price at which a dealer can sell a vehicle.

North of the border, dealers are free to charge an ADM, but they are limited to the percent of MSRP they can charge. I'll need to check with my wife, who was a car sales woman to find the exact amount but I believe it was a maximum of 15%.

I was, of course, referring to dealers in the U.S. where mark up is not limited and dealers are free to charge whatever mark up they can get.

Those partcipating in it are giving US, the Camaro and Chevrolet Community a black eye. This is a public board for everyone to read. Someone posted recently how the other car manufacturer boards are getting a kick out of this nonsense. I trust the flagrant complainers are proud of themselves. There is no justification in it. A long time ago I was told a phrase..."if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all". Yeah, that phrase is dated as all heck...but..there is hidden truth in it. Those dissaproving of this counterproductive behavior are being patient, but patience wears thin and can reach the tipping point when the drone of nonstop, often vitrioloc, rhetoric persists unabated. Give it a break please. Some here are serving no legitimate purpose by posting constantly in a demeaning "it's all about me" manner. Oh yes...you have a right...I know...but so do we. A two way street. Like a flake recently said here...they better make mine perfect...or else. That sums it up. Try pulling this on one of the other car boards and you will get run off so quick you won't even know what hit you. There's nothing being touchy about this...it's the proverbial broken record...the Chinese have a saying "death by a thousand cuts". I hope this Groundhog Day ends soon...and common sense prevails. That's my 2 cents worth and all I'm going to say about it until the cows come home. In the immortal words of Foghorn Leghorn, I present you this truism.......

Here in the middle of the Pacific, a certain Dealer (I don't want to mention any names or JN Chevrolet may get a bad name) wanted $20k over MSRP.
I almost fell off my chair laughing...shook his hand and said have a nice day!

Then again, if idiot people are willing to pay that amount, they'll continue to ask for it.

The longer production is halted the fewer 2012s will be made unless they push real hard through May. We will all be in a unique category as owners of the 2012. Yes we will suffer early depreciation and if that is an issue for anyone that does not intend to keep it over 5-7 years then they might consider a 2013..... but you only gain one year's depreciation, nothing else. Still might be better to have a 2012..... Certainly a more interesting "story" to tell!
+1 well said Mike!

Reliable source close to the plant: issue is a chip in the BCM...supplier is in Japan...6 - 8 weeks to rectify....for what it's worth

On a more important note, I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of your wife Harvey.

I work in the aerospace industry, every part I machine has a paper trail for trace ability. I am sure this is also true with automobiles.

It is possible that during QC it was discovered that something was made from the wrong material and they are having to replace these components.

It could also be that some of the fluids came back from the labs and they found elevated levels of metal or some other contaminant in them that should not be there.

They may have completely disassembled one of their track cars and found some cracks or premature wear in an internal part that had previously not had a problem.

I feel that if this were a minor problem that the vehicles would have been shipped and then a recall would have been sent out to have the component replaced at a later time.

To shut down production it would seem to be something that could lead to a catastrophic failure of a major component or a safety issue.

If it were either of these I would prefer that they take action before they shipped.

If it was a window that sometimes did not roll down or radio knob falling off I can deal with that for a little while. Hey GM go ahead and send me mine.

I do not like the fact that they are leaving us in the dark. I would have told my customers something by now. They do not have to be specific. At this point it would be good business to imply what the issue might be even if it was not true so that so that we feel like we are being kept in the loop with our major purchases. I would rather know the truth.

It seems like it would be easier to wait if we know why we are waiting.

Sorry for the long post, needed to vent a little.

I really enjoy reading on this forum. I look here every day to see if someone has posted a ship date.
