Stainless Works Header install on 1LE

Installed my Stainless works headers and HF Cats today on my 2013 1LE. I have the NPP exhaust system so was curious as to what the difference would be.

I set the camera up before the removal of the stock manifolds and took the shot so we had something to compare too. I left the camera in the same place and took the second shot with the new headers bolted up.

Its is a 2013 Camaro 2SS/RS with 1LE and NPP. Under the hood I have only added a Rotofab air intake. The difference between the 2 videos is only the addition of the Stainless Works headers and HF Cats.

I have a Mild to Wild controller so can manually open and close the four tips at the back of the car. For this video, all 4 tips were open.

The atmosphere you see come out on the 2nd video is probably from the HF Cats as this was their first time running when I shot the vid.

Also, I did not throw any codes with this install. The Stainless Works headers come with the bungs for both o2 sensors and extensions so I reinstalled both front and rear o2's.
I expected with all that I have read that installing headers causes a code to be thrown and the only way around that is to tune the engine, thereby possibly voiding the warranty.
Any input on this? or is there a guaranteed code in my future?? lol

Sounds AWESOME !

I wonder if your warranty is safe with headers & high low cats..?

Does anyone know the answer to the OP's question about throwing codes/CEL's..?

The code is pretty common but I have seen people go for a little while before it turned on while some people have it happen as soon as you turn the key. Anyways your set up sounds awesome

You will get codes. O2 spacers for the rear sensors can help.

Most likely your car will run a little rich without a tune. But the car will run fine.

I ran my last SS this way for a year+ and it ran 12.8s @113 without a tune.

What I did was buy a cheap code reader/editor off Amazon and checked the codes and removed them from time to time. In the beginning I could go weeks without a CEL, but after last winter they came faster.

BTW, let us know if there is any drone with the flaps open. Hopefully there will be none with the flaps enabled.

Killer!! The code is just a light on the dash.... yours will happen eventually.... many run forever without a tune. Basically the car thinks the cats are bad.

In our country we don't need to run cats as the emissions laws are very relaxed. Would you recommend getting rid of them all together?

Sounds good man. What size headers are they? I just put 2" SW along with a lot of other stuff. If I was good with computers and phones I would post up a video but I'm not, but my brother did in another thread if you want to hear it just go to the Rivalry one.

You will throw a code soon enough. No big deal. Either run that way or tune out the rear sensors. Of course you get more power with the tune but, probably lose the warranty.

Personally i'd rather have more fun. Pretty sure the only warranty i have left is maybe the radio. MAYBE lol.

I went with 1 7/8" SW and I must say that the install was very straight forward. The headers w/HF Cats came with excellent instructions, o2 extensions and new header bolts along with all clamps required for buttoning it all back up. It took 2 and a half hours. Unclipping the o2 harness from the back of the block was a plus because then the sensors could be taken out on the bench rather than under the car. The instructions said to unbolt the steering shaft but we thought we could squeak the header by without doing that...nope.. just take the one bolt out and slide the shaft out of the way. Very easy.
I don't know what other header kits are like but Ill give Stainless Works a thumbs up for a complete kit and easy install.
Also forgot to give Chase at Apex a shout out for getting me hooked up with these puppies!!
The engine feels like it has been released. A great mod!!
