Thats a load of you know what. You were a victom of a hit and run, and the police just don't want to deal with it. I think the other driver realized they would be in trouble for leaving the scene of an accident and decided to later file a report. You shouldn't have to pay for it. This stinks, but at least you nor the other driver were hurt. You may get lucky on the insurance, since you weren't in an at fault accident and given a ticket, or maybe they have accident forgiveness for the first occurance. |

As a certified inspector,i write estimates for repair everyday(Manheim auto aution)The right fender could be repaired at Mmmm 5 hours at $35-45 an hour, plus 3.0 hour to paint at $35 an hour,so just for the fender $280 plus the cost of the Camaro emblem($25.00)The front bumper doesn't look too bad,I'd give about 3-4 hours repair time($140.00)plus about 4.0 refinish time $180.00.Since your car is brand new,I would go with a new Fender(approx.$300-$380)plus R&I time(1.5-3.0 including R&I the bumper, fender liner, fender, emblem)
I would have a dealership do the repairs, they do the best quality work IMHO(stay away from Maaco and Earl Sheib). Soooo,a low estimate for repairs with a new fender is about $875.00,and that is at a $35.00 an hour labor rate.Although i believe a dealerships labor rate is a bit much higher.

It will cost a couple of thousand. If insurance payus, make sure they give you the depreciation amount also. because your car has been in an accident it is worth less, even after 100% repair. Your insurance company is responsible for the value difference.

200 miles, and already gained a ding in the rear wheel arch last night. no way as bad as yours, and I feel for you. These cars are like a %#$% magnet... Im not so much pissed at the small dent, just wonder why humanity has complete half wits walking amongst us who dont know how to open a door, it really isn't that difficult??? Its totally beyond compression. I'm hoping dent doctor or one of this guys can easily get it out, but its right by the curve of the rear wheel arch...
Good luck with yours... |
