Equinox has some Competition

The new Kia Sorento. My wife's Spectra was getting serviced and we took a Sorento for a test drive.

They are very very nice nowadays. It gets 29mpg which isnt as good as the chevy's 32mpg. However it is bigger inside. It has a nice interior. Exterior is much improved.

The MAJOR plus for the KIA 10 YEAR/100,000 vs Chevy 5 years/100,000. Thats a big difference guys.

The only drawback i see? Its not an american company. The prices are the same basically.

Its gonna be real hard to choose from a Equinox, Forester, Santa Fe, or Sorento when the time comes to buy an SUV/CUV.

Opinions are welcome

If you drive more than 20k miles a year, the extra warranty doesn't matter. I don't know what the difference is between the two when it comes to standard features and option costs. But exterior styling I don't think there is much of a comparison, Chevy hands down. Interior, I guess it depends on the person.

We have a 2010 Equinox and love it. I can't imagine a better built vehicle and the gas mileage is awesome. Very roomy and comfortable. Plus I always encourage everyone to buy American.

Just hit 5K miles on my Equinox LTZ, still no regrets!!!

Wife wanted to trade her 2008 Ford EB Expedition EL in for an Equinox LTZ or Terrain SLT - she liked mine so much. She ended up getting a 2010 Ford Edge LTD (nav/sync, vista roof, DVD headrests), with dealer discount and Ford monies, it brought the MSRP $41,550 down to $33,000. An offer too good to pass up!!!

I just bought the wife a 2010 Cardinal Red 2LT Equinox last night. Wonderful truck and it is really peppy with the 2.2 Ecotec in it.

Look at this from Yahoo before you think that Kia is so great...yeah, this is the previous model...but their warranty has LOTS of loopholes!

yeah, looking at the seranto interior on Kia's website, very bland and boring compared to the equinox. So there's that, plus the Equinox gets better mileage. And I have a strong dislike for Kia.

All valid points. But I DO NOT drive 22k per year. More like the average 12k per year. So a 10 year warranty is very enticing to me and my wife. For the same price of $24k you get a few more interior options standard over what chevy gives you.

Dont get me wrong. I want an Equinox. I just think if GM went back to the 10 year/100,000k warranty, they would have a gold mine.

More than likely it will just come down to who gives us the better deal........because honestly that is what our budget dictates.

You should also know that the 10year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty is non-transferable if you ever decide to sell the car

...where as the GM warranty is

I'd have to kick my own ass if I ever bought any of them.
