Who would be dumb enough to let their 16 year old drive either the 6 or 8 cylinder Camaro?

When I was 16, I had a 650rwhp 396" LT4 1995 trans am sporting one of the first production ATI superrchargers - P600B series (hah, still remember!) - and sheet metal intercooler built from diesel cores.

Respect the car, or it will kill you < --- words to live by.

Hate to break it to some folks, but the Camaro is no longer a muscle car (technically it never was - but you get the idea). GM has made a well tuned sports coupe with retro skin... they slapped a V8 in it for the folks who are easily amused by burning (expensive) tires and only care about going fast in a strait line. For everyone else who views it more along it's true sports coupe lines - the 6 is the only way to fly.

Im looking in to this very topic right now and have been for about a week..From what ive been told by alot of great members of this forum is that, like they are saying here, you should go with the exhaust first..400 is what i WAS going for..and from what ive been told, and this guy always talks about exhaust in most of the post ive seen him in, will get you almost to 400 with the longer tubes. A little over 1500 bucks from what ive found out will get you just barely away from 400hp. I wrote in another thread that i was just goofing off the other day and remember about that old info mercial about the Cyclone Air Flow Ring. So just curious and having fun i went with a friend to Auto Zone and asked about them..They actually had them in stock for 35 dollars..LOL..so i bought one. And installed it on the air filter box where there is a little bit of tube on it. I stopped at a stop sign and when it turned green, without revving the engine, i stomped the gas to the floor. For the first time the wheels on my V6 "barked" withotu revving the engine and by simply stomping the gas to the floor. Ive tried before to get that to work without revving up the engine but it never would. Back to the point..i am looking for V6 superchargers or turbo/twin turbo kits..ill let you know if i find out somethign..check the forums under engine upgrades about the remote turbo system. they are talking about the STS turbo system which is installed under the car on the exhaust rather than under the hood..im checking into everything..im now wanting to not reach 400 hp but add 400 or so hp..lol..if its possible. Ill keep you up to date if i can..if i dont get in touch within a week pm me and ill let you know what ive found out. a V6 would be great for you at your age..a v8 might be a bit much even lethal for a teenager..i broke my back and almost paralized myself in a straight six '71 nova..LMFAO

Don't disrespect the L99. It runs with the LS3. Only a few have had some issues with velocity. Both V8s are about equally fast.

get FI. More real world fun for the $$.
Nitrous oxide is really more useful on the track than the street.

N2O is basically useless on the street and in many states it is illegal....

On my 4.0 V6 Stang I would get about 10 1/4 miles passes out of a 10 pound bottle... You can certainly fill a lot of bottles ( i was paying $30 to fill an empty bottle) for the cost a supercharger/turbo...

In the end I think a SC or TC is really the way to go....

I wouldn't want the ticket and tow truck that would come with speeding on nitrous oxide.

Let's not disrespect one of the world's best engines.

I wish I had a Camaro at 16. Treat this car like it is more valuable than you. If you don't, then you could be driving something like my wagon. :(

Thanks for all of the info, and I would love to know what you find. Thats really interesting that the cyclone kit actually seemed to increase the hp! I really didnt trust it. On the website it says "HOW MUCH WILL I GAIN? – Over the years we have had testimonials from customers who have seen horsepower gains of up to 31%. Our average customer gains between 5-12 horsepower" which is not really that bad at all for just 35 dollars. Are you going to keep it on? But Idk if I would trust the sts turbo system, since its installed on the exaust it would be very easily damaged it seems. Ill pm you though in about a week and let me know what you found out and ill tell you if i find anything. Nah.... nothins lethal for me though! haha ill definetly be careful, my parents said that for every mph im over the limit if i get a ticket, thats a week away from my car...

Trust me, I will. My dad and step dad both had the 69 for their first car so I kinda have to continue the tradition with the 2010!

IF I'm reading this correctly, there is NO way you will get even close to 400 HP with just exhaust. Sorry.

thats just stats given from members on this site..not exactly 400 but close enough to not notice a big difference they said..but its with exhaust and tuned with high octane gas..lol..ive been trying for a week now to look everywhere for a supercharger or turbo kit for the 6 but nothing that looks real or nothing that says YES it fits the 3.6 v6. so i didnt buy. if you guys know anything feel free to let us know..if its real and adds good hp ill buy it and let everyone know how it works..as long as its not experimental and costs a fortune..only way im shelling out major cash is with proven materials.

I didn't disrespect the L99 at all. And I didn't say anything about the few cars that are slower than V6's.
I just implied that the auto was slower than the manual, which I believe is true. I don't know why you would call something that is true disrespect.

Mod your 6 up increase your Hp and you will still get better gas milage than the 8...Gas goes back up to 5 bucks a gallon we will still be driving our sixes while the eights will be crying about gas prices...Just my 2 cents but im going with the supercharger i think the turbo sounds kinda funny...

Real world I would say at the most 40 HP with exhaust and tune.
