How does GM determine which orders to ship?
I'm sure it's been talked about to death, but it still confuses me. I had a salesman tell me yesterday that dealer allocation had nothing to do with it, and then tried to explain to me it was (not his words, but close enough) first come first serve. Now I knew that wasn't right since there are those who ordered in Oct. who's event codes haven't moved and others who ordered in April who have delivery dates. So if someone could be so kind and explain it to me... I'm so lost.

From what I can tell it seems to be that the dealers that make the most money for GM get their cars first. Makes sense on GM's end, but it makes people that ordered from smaller dealers wait longer.

back to the thread, your dealers an idiot! if it were 1st come 1st served, no Oct orders would still not be delivered. builds are determined by some Mustang sales as well as dealer performance. that's how GM hands out builds monthly allocations. my guess is you are not an allocated order, but round 2!

Allocation, to my understanding, has about 80% to do with it and the market you are in the other 20%. The dealer I ordered from had 1 allotment left so I took it, but he is also the number 1 in Corvette sales for his region so that has made his orders go faster so far.

Luckily this guy wasn't my dealer. I was there to check out a 2SS for the first time. (BTW, to the woman who owns the RJT 2SS that let me take a look at it at that dealer in Clarksville MD, Thanks again so much! ) I am an allocated order at the other dealership, which is what sparked this conversation. I think he was just sore I got it from a different dealer, he was also really angry at the fact I got it through a buying service and got it under MSRP. He was so angry he walked away and went inside in the middle of the conversation. Weird guy...
