I've scoped out a few on-ramps but my fave is this one about a 15 min drive from my house.

Looping clockwise off route 455 onto the highway on ramp and I have an almost straight 1.5 mile road before it merges into the 3 lane highway. If there's no cars in front of me...it's time for WOT and 7000 rpm redline shifts! Fastest I've merged is 122 mph (197 kph). I could have gone faster but I always allow enough room to decelerate without braking...slamming on the brakes to merge is lazy speeding. :-) Once it warms up and the Pirellis are back on, it'll be time for another run....

Case in point, last time I went there was a Tesla Model X that ran within 0.1 seconds every single time, like clockwork, until the battery ran low. Driver did absolutely nothing, no prep, no drag tires, not even lowering tire pressures, just lined up and kept the pedal to the floor all the way. No need to actually compete, one can simply compare spec sheets. Yawn.

(Now I will say having an automatic trans like the one in my car takes a big chunk out of the fun already, so it's not like I'd be a hardcore drag racer, this is only a simple observation.)
Agreed…. Small tracks are already in danger…. Full EV world will be the death of any of them still hanging on.

I have been on that piece of highway many times

I'm a Civil Engineering Design Tech and I always look at how the highways are designed and how in the US most highways have very short merge lanes, with no parallel acceleration lanes that throw you into traffic rather abruptly. I have working on highways and road reconstruction for 30 years. The long merge lanes on Canadian highways give you way more room to row through the gears when getting onto the highway.

years ago I designed Highway 400 for 30km of through Parry Sound plus many other roadways since then, all highways are over designed for speeds higher than posted.

There are quite a few in the DFW area. My favorite will depend on the time of year. The first one, it climbs to about 3-5 stories high and when it's a little icy, people take it at a crawl (like what's predicted tomorrow).

But, I do love me a good clover, which we have quite a few peppered throughout the area. https://www.google.com/maps/@32.8371...m1!1e3!5m1!1e4 There's just something about taking these curves at a decent clip that wakes up one's senses. The one below is bitter sweet. It's the location where some moronic truck driver hauling gravel was coming too fast around a clover, while I was driving straight. I had the right-of-way and he thought he could try to speed up around the curve but then changed his mind at the last minute and applied the brakes. His load shifted and showered the passenger side of my 4 month old car with gravel.

I have anger issues for different reasons, people driving slow in the left lane, or not even trying to drive with the flow of traffic. I think for me the anger is in their lack of self-awareness. If traffic is flowing at a clip of about 60-70 MPH and you're trying to drive 50-55 because you see that as the speed limit, then you're effectively being more unsafe on the road than the guy that's driving at a fast clip and trying to get around you.

When I'm in the left lane and I see someone approach me, after I've made my pass (I never camp out in the left lane), I get over regardless of how fast the guy/girl behind me is going. Here's why I am ok with the guy/girl blowing past me in the left lane, I don't know what, if any emergency they're dealing with. Maybe they're hauling ass to the hospital because they just found out a loved one was in an accident and the prognosis is bad. Maybe they have to run to the bathroom. I'm in no position to assess why they're in a hurry. All I can do is get over from the left lane so that they can pass people safely. Sadly, a lot of people do not understand what the left lane is for, which only makes others that much more aggressive.

At night, that's what high beams are for. Most people get a clue once they see a blinding white light coming from behind.

i usually drive 5-10 over the limit, middle lane unless i am passing.and no,i dont camp in the left lane either.lots of people around here seem to feel its their right to switch lanes multiple times to get that car length ahead and shoehorn their cars into whatever space is available...whether their car will fit or not.and i love to see people text and drive,i just stay away if possible and hope darwins law will take care of them

South Eastern Wisconsin had all of the bridges and interchanges replaced over the past 10 years. Including long on/off ramps wherever possible.

Here are two of the larger ones. I drive with the flow in dense areas like this.

Well, we've also got some purdy ones on I-40 and I-75, but the traffic there is almost always bad, very bad.

I tend to favor curvy mountain roads for fun, and of course I have no choice when running an errand or work shuttle.

This site is a nice help for finding local curvy roads:
