Another Paint issue, this time its on the Doors

I noticed last week that the door edge, on the close side has paint chipping off. At first, I thought someone had opened the door and hit a white car or something white, but when I looked close I could tell the paint is just flaking off. Its all up and down the edge, on both doors.

I called the body shop manager at the dealer I bought it from, and set-up an appointment to bring it in. She tried to tell me over the phone that usually happens when someone opens the door and hits something. I assured her this was not the case, and made sure she understood it has in no way came in contact with ANYTHING! I hope she got the point that I am not to be messed with on this issue. We shall see Thursday.

If it was something I had done out of shear stupidity, I would take my lumps, but its a legit issue. Guess I will be buying some door guard strips after I get it back fixed.

Anyone else having this issue???

Hey I have the same on the bottom ledge of my doors and I know I didn't hit anything there or that is also impossible to "fling" debris there with my wheels but hey they call it "road rash" go figure but like you I'm not going to take it lying down. We need to get GM to own up and correct and I think the only way to do it will be in numbers.

Please let us know how your service goes on Thursday. I do apologize for the dissatisfaction you are experiencing with this, however. I look forward to your updates.

Thanks Brandon. Its good to see someone in the CS department out here at the tip of the sword. I am confident right now that the dealership will take care of this issue. I expect to see allot of people chiming in on this thread as they check their own doors. Pretty sure I am not an isolated car effected by this. I will keep you informed.

I don't have pics and am at work in Russia but my 2012 has a paint issue on the drivers door edge at the very top of the door. I will get pics as soon as possible. Mine is not chipping yet but the paint looks like it was run off until it dripped.
Then about halfway down the drivers door under the mirror there is a thin spot looks like a fish eye.I will contact the dealer after I get back as I also have a problem with the Transformers Stripes and the left front headlight. The stripes I do have a picture of.

I think I have the same problem.
Little bubbles along the crease on the inside of door.
I noticed a few the day I bought it, dismissed it as an imperfection.

Then a month later, noticed more bubbles
(not sure if more formed or was there from the beginning),
and a speck of paint had flaked off.
What's underneath is the soft gray primer paint.

I hope this isn't caused by rust, maybe just a manufacturing imperfection.

Should I just put touch-up paint on it myself or
ask the dealer to verify this isn't rust forming?

I apologize to hear about the imperfections you may be experiencing with your vehicle's paint. The best thing to do is to take it to the dealership to see if they are able to diagnose it and check to see if it is rust damage. Please let us know if your dealership's service department was able to do this for you.

I took my Camaro to the dealer.

Luckily, my problem isn't rust.
Rather, car doors are bonded with epoxy, something like Liquid Nails,
then painted over. This epoxy on my car is flexible/bendable, maybe it failed to harden entirely.
So the paint tore in little spots.
Passenger door's epoxy is also flexible but its paint is fine (less slamming of that door of course).

I talked with a painter and I decided
to just apply touch-up paint myself rather than sanding down the original paint
(some tearing will keep happening anyway because how it's made).
I'll have to monitor it in case if ever tears out to the very edge of the door,
in that case, maybe professional repainting will be necessary.
That is, right now it's just many pin-holes, it could turn into tears/rips.

The Epoxy is a Sealer to prevent rust and increase the look from were the seam of the door was folded over. there is also a sealer in side of the seam that Weld puts in when the seam is welded and folded over.. If there is any air pockets in the sealer from weld then when they put on the 2nd coat (that can be seen when opening the door) then baked it will bubble up and lift away from the seam.. When painted it would look to be ok when passing thu Quality Inspection, but over time from closing the door it will crack the paint and it will start to chip off

I actually apply epoxy/sealer that is seen around the doors, hood and trunk but on a different vehicle
