well considering that the c7 corvette is in the low 12's, 11 second for a camaro ss is pretty unrealistic... the gen6 camaro ss will probably be mid to high 12 second 1/4 mile

I don't think it's unrealistic at all to think that this car could be within a tenth or 2 of the Corvette. Each new Corvette gets heavier, and the new Camaro is supposed to be much lighter. The extra weight will certainly make it slower around the track, but you will notice it less in a straight line.
Take a look at the Challenger, that thing is several hundred pounds heavier than the 5th gen, yet runs in the low 4 second range to 60, and the low 12 second range in the quarter mile. There are many people running 12.2s in Scat Packs right off the factory assembly line. Bottom line, I wouldn't put that type of performance out of the realm of possibility for the SS Camaro. A 4.1 - 4.2 0-60 and 12.1 - 12.3 in the quarter mile is where the Camaro needs to be if Chevy plans on this car being competitive throughout its life cycle. |
